Fuel delivery?

Thanks I had already gone through that thread.. I crawled under the truck to see if LP stayed on after turning off the engine, it doesnt, while under there I saw a fuel leak probably from blowing air into the tank, I believe bending such old and crusty hose made it crack so I just replaced all rubber fuel lines with new ones, now Im gonna take it for a spin and see if I can replicate the dieing issue.

You do know that you need DIESEL FUEL rated rubber hose correct? If not, that patch hose may only last a week or so, not to mention all the broken down rubber fragments your sending right towards your Injection Pump.

If you didn't, change it asap, and I guarantee that hose already has a really bouncy/rubbery feel to it as we speak.

Oh crap!! I dont think theres a parts store that carries diesel specific rubber hose in this flippin town. it hasnt died on me yet today though,
I'll try and get a fuel pressure gauge next time I go to Texas cause the ones I can find here show like 10 psi increments..
thanks for all the input, keep it coming

Just so you hurry up on it, go underneath and squeeze the patch lines with your hand. I guarantee you can already feel it start to 'balloon'

update

Went to my mechanic's shop this morning and asked him about my mexican fix idea, he suggested jumping the pump from a wire that only draws current when the ignition is on, took less than five minutes now I can hear the pump when the key is turned.. so far so good, the truck seems to start a little easier and hasnt died on me yet, he also said that the rubber hose I got its diesel rated, he bought the same hose at the same parts store for his 6.2

Im keeping my fingers crossed.

best long term way to fix it is new OPS but let OPS turn on the control coil of a relay, and let heavy contact side of the relay carry lift pump current, you mechanics way fixes it but does reduce fire/crash protection as you have to remember on exiting vehicle and remain consious in event of a crash and remember to turn the keyt off so you don't add fuel to a fire.
