Fuel filter question? I replaced my filter and found a metal ring with a o-ring by my ops? Does that metal ring belong with filter? or was that from the past change? Looking for a diagram

What size is it? Any pics? The o ring may have been from a previous fuel filter. Not sure why there would be a metal ring there, no metal ring has anything to do with the FFM AFAIK

By the way, its FFM ) fuel filter manager)

Its the size of the o-ring. There was a wix filter on it before hand and this change I used an aftermarket with plastic cap. I was just wondweing if the metal flat seats with the o-ring? To dark for any pics tonight.

Well if u don't have any leaks and everything acts normal then there shouldn't be anything to worry about. Did you use a new o ring on the new fuel filter?

Stanadyne filters have a support metal thingy (looks like a mini angle iron ring). The Stanadyne seal is not a true oring more a lip seal type gasket. I agree if no leaks probably from a previous change.

Next time just make sure the old seal and support (if it has one) comes off. So you see a clean castleated top lip on the FFM and the there is a seal on the new filter.

If it was appox a 3" dia oring & metal ring then yes it was the seal from a filter element. On the Wix especialy they had a bad habit of falling off.
