Has anyone figured out a way to add "flash to pass" on the 95-98 trucks?
In 1992 I added it to my 93 truck but that is a totally different steering colum. I think the 99 & ^ trucks (new body style) have it? I wonder how different the turnsignal swicth is and if it could be made to work or use parts from it to modify the 95-98 style.

You mean like turning your headlights on and off to let a big truck know its ok to come over?

Yep, except instead of turning lights on and off You would only pull back slightly on turn signal lever. Not enough to click into high beams. On my 93 all four lights come on while in FTP mode.

Edit: on my 93 all four lights come on if the headlights are on and in low beam. If the headlights are off (day time) just the high beams come on.

I usually just mine a flick for FTP, of course sometimes they flick off and I end fumbling around. I don't think you could get a newer turn signal switch to work they operate way different then the old ones. You actually push them forward and leave them for highs and pull back for flash to pass, so the mechanism is way different, plus many of the new trucks just have light sensitive headlights instead of the DRLs, so that might cause a wiring nightmare.

The switch on the 95+ trucks is a multi-function switch. That means it's well over $100 new. Wiper ,cruise, 4-way flasher and headlight dimmer are ALL in the switch. One goes bad, you have to replace the whole thing. The switches and ignition switches were much more durable in the older models and much cheaper.
I thought I remember reading in the owner's manual that they all had the flash to pass in them.

The good news there is, that if the truck didn't come with cruise equipted, you can add the new multi-switch w/cruise and presto, truck has cruise.

Aces proved this one.

Anyone have a good source for these swtiches w/cruise?

Rock auto,ac delco D826A $249
When mine went out on my 95 I bought a whole steering col. from the junkyard for $70 with the air bag and air bag controler.

I went to the junk yard and it looks like the 95-98 sw can be replaced by a 2003 style. Atleast the mounting of it. The electrical aspect is going to be way off, but I think is do'able. I just "eyeballed" the switch I did not actually try to swap them. To me it looks like it would bolt up though.
I bought a new switch a couple years ago on ebay for $100.

I think your right the wiring might be the biggest pain, you might just be better off getting the blinker relay, and wiring out of the 2003.

I'm still not calling it case closed. I'm going back to the junk yard and bringing the right tools this time. If it will mount up I think it can be made to work. I'm hard headed that way. If I think I can make something work...... I will try it.
Like the HID headlights I put inplace of the back up lights that do work great!!

Are you saying I wouldn't need anything else to add cruise to my '96? No module under the hood? If that's the case, I'm adding that switch to my summertime junkyarding list. :D
Does anyone know if the switch needs to come from another 6.5 truck, or can I use one out of a gasser?

I paid $69.85 for a new one on the bay. PM and I will give you seller Info.
My old one was clicking like crazy just driving down the road. This fixes it. and your cruse will work after install.

The cruise is integral in the computer on the OBDII trucks, so all you need are the buttons. Yeas one out of a gasser will fit.

I'm going to check out the eBay guy first. Junkyard parts are far from cheap around here -plus I'd have to wait 'til summer or do a lot of shovelling to get to a junker.
