Fish on

Do any recent fuel tank work? Perhaps you have crud in your sock tank? Gasoline sock on your diesel sending unit?

Sounds like you really need a fuel pressure gauge.

I did about a month ago. It is clean. My baffle kept coming loose and bending the fsu. I bent the fsu down so it would hold the baffle down and not let it come off.

The 99 should run off of the PCM as well as the OPS. So try jumping the relay before replacing parts.

The pump vibrates but nothing comes out the filter bleed on top. I know it still may not be working but I took the old pump that I took out 2 weeks ago and stuck the intake in water and jumped it and water was shooting out. So It appears the old one is good.

Correct me if I am wrong, the LP/OPS relay is on the back of the fuse relay box on the driver side. Orange wire is hot black is ground right?

Hey Rodd. Sorry I didn't get back to you. I was busy at work and then went to the in-laws tonight for dinner and just now got home. Did you check the old pump before you changed it by putting 12 volts to it? Reason I ask is a lot of times a fuel pump can fail, and then jar it around a little bit, or smack it, and it will start working again. When I get cars in that don't start and there is no fuel pressure, first thing I do is smack the fuel tank with a piece of wood, or plastic end of big pry bar, and most of the time they will start so I can drive them into the shop instead of push(for in tank fuel pumps). If you need a hand give me a call tomorrow. I have a 80th birthday for my wifes Great Grandma tomorrow, so I'll be around.

I worked on it till late last night. Here is what I found. I jumped the pump and fuel came out the filter bleeder and the t valve. That didn't happen when I used the key in the on position. It pointed at the OPS. Got the intake off and replaced the ops. I had been driving around with one in my glove box since my thanksgiving trip this past year. I sure wish I had one of the ops extenders from pmdcable. I have to get one and the next time I have my intake off I'll replace it.

One thing I noticed after the install is my oil pressure went from about 20 at idle w/ the old to almost 80 w/ the new. After driving it for a while it came down to about 40 at idle and went up to just shy of 80 when I was on it. My truck sure sounds and drives better. The only thing I noticed this morning is a small oil/fuel leak on the ground. I think it is a mixture of the fuel that came out of the filter and ran down the back of the engine cleaning some of my engine. I hope it isn't leaking oil through the ops. I got it on there pretty tight.
