Filters By Heater Coil ?

Anybody know what years they installed the filters under the dash in front of the heater coil ? Mine has them & I change them approximently twice a year.A lot of guys dont know if they got them or not.If they plug up you dont get the circulation or the draw off from your system its intended for.They are a bear to get at but once you do it its not to bad the second time around.You'll know if its getting dirty by the amount of air flow you have in the cab and to the windsheild defrost.If you look under the dash on the passengers side you'll see a cover you have to remove to get at them.There are two filters the same size.They slide into a compartment right in front of the heater coil.I have had dust,leaves.small sticks in mine already.Im not sure what models or yrs. they put them in.I did'nt know about them untill a guy changing my fuel filter told me about it.He showed me how to change them the first time.Hope this helps someone out that has them but dos'nt know it.:cool:
 
I think it wa somewhere around 04 or 05. My 03 doesn't have one but i wish it did. You can also tell when they need to be changed if you start getting a funny odor out your ac vents. Mold and other crap starts to grow on them. I would recomend changing them about twice a year.

:)Hi,Im surprised to hear that you favor the filters.Myself,I think there a pain.I've had GM all my life & never seen this on one untill I got my 01.I've had GM from years dating back in the 60's till now and always got close to 200,000 out of them.The best one I ever owned was a 79 4x4 K-5 Blazer 350 gasser with a 7 1/2 ft. hydro western plow.Got over 240,000 out of it.Bought it for $6000 with the plow.had it for over 20 yrs.Never seen a truck as tough as that one was.Owned a 65 1/2 ton too,got about 150,000 out of it.It had a 6 cyl. 230 in it with a 3 speed stick.The poor truck died of cancer up north in Wisc.Drove it to the junk yard,the owner of that place gave me $100 for it.Thanks for the comeback on the question on the filters,I was just curious wondering how many did'nt know about them.P.S. Take a look at my pic's & you'll see what the 3500 is pulling.38 ft. tri-axle RV. The trailer weighs in at 19,600 alone,the truck weighs in at 8,200. Click on the pictures & they'll enlarge for a better picture.
 
02 was the last year in the trucks. I have heard that the dual air controls didn't fit with them but I have seen add on kits for the 03+ so:noidea:
Can't you just take them out if you don't like them?

Yes, if you don't want the filter in there just take it out and put the cover back on.
