FFM heater and control of it

How do u do 67 mph @ 1800 rpm? I do 60 mph @ 2500 rpms?
between 18-1900 rpm. i was running at your speed, burning more fuel than i could afford. what really prompted me into getting the gearvendor unit was i had a diesel rabbit that i sold. gave me enough to get the unit and a centrifuge. haven't really used the cf yet but i did bump the rpm to 5000 and g's to over 9000. will be using it when i get a supply of WVO. i have used the GV unit a lot though. love it! best money i ever spent on parts.

how long did you run it and did you look at the injectors to see if there was any buildup? when i was running trans fluid, my injectors fouled. filtered but not 'fuged.
truck ran real good this morn. seemed to have more power but can't measure that. i have 10 more gallons of veg oil so i will use it later in the week.

I did look at injectors and they were actually very clean. This was at a time when my glow plugs had swelled (wellmans) and before I figured that out I thought maybe because I was running a blend it could have caused a bunch of coking (sp?). I thought I was going to find a nasty mess/coking deposit on everything. After I could not remover the GPs I was forced to remove the heads to access the GPs. Well the heads chamber area, valves and the cylinder were very clean, injectors looked almost new.
FYI I now make a special tool for removing swollen tip GPs with out R&R of heads. http://www.pmdcable.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4&zenid=8d4jfsr8eqrs4e0is3ecj95k53
Back in 93-98 before bio and other alt fuels were big I used to run atleast a qt of trans fluid per tank. Later when I started WVO I thought I could try more. So, when I had some after a change I would toss that fluid in my filtering set up with the WVO.
You results may vary.

My RPM is around 1600-1800 @ 65mph. 4L80E and 342's, slightly bigger tires.

Orrum, in that dually you probaly have 411's

from what i hear it's not rpm that hurts, it's heat, egt's and engine. 4.11 is great for towing.
my tires round out to 33.5". with 4.11's, 2000 at 70 mph.
look forward to burning more veg oil, need to find a reliable source close to home. have a friend gonna bring me several cubies to help get me started.

Deejaaa remember......filter filter filter! If u working with raw unfiltered wvo let it settle for at least two weeks and a month is WAY BETTER. Hint for finding wvo that is truly high quality......check fairgrounds and carnivals. There is in most states laws about them storing and hauling the concession trailers with oil in the fryers or even in the cubies brand new. So they buy the french fry oil locally and dont filter it, they just drain it and dispose of it immediately. U can go talk to them and pick it up early every morning just sitting there in the cubies. Make sure its not the creamy white kind cause u will never be able to burn that type. The whitesh gravy in the bottom of the cubies is just the yuck settling its ok to get those cubies. U will learn. Carry a spare filter and a 24 oz bottle of diesel to fill the filter. A buddy of mine gets 400-500 gallons at the county fair every year. Thats pretty good pay for a hours work every mornin for 5 days!!!!

that's a good lead. i will check because there is one on my way to work off the interstate. fair runs in Oct here. i will def check it out.
i will be using the centrifuge when i filter. here is a pic. haven't used it for veg yet but worked for motor oil although that needs 20-30,000 rpm to get it clean.

btw, a console i would like to build:

I have a fuge very simular to yours. Max rmp is 3600. How did you get 20-30k? It would scare me to death to spin one that fast. Did you build your rig?
The junk left behind looks like peanut butter and you may have to make a couple of passes on it. I would let it drain into a container then pump it though a 2 mircron filter into your holding tank.

sorry for the miscombobulation! IF i were to cf motor oil, i would need 20-30,000 rpm. on this one, motor originally spun 3400, now spins 5500, puts out 9g's, the bowl is kind of small. i put a pulley drive on it instead of a direct drive. i bought this from a guy who built it from scratch. he got all the parts, including the motor, for free. i paid for his labor. i think he sold it because he couldn't get enough rpm out of it but not sure. the 1st thing i did was fix the rpm. sounds like it's trying to take off when it builds up speed. i have it strapped to a table because of the harmonics.
see if this link works, cant get it here so not able to see what it is:

orrum, oil feeds to the top using gravity but i use an extra lift pump. clean oil falls to the wall in the square box and drains to a 15 or 55 gallon drum. waste stays in the bowl because i didn't put in a drain. scoop it out and make another run. feed 5-10gallons an hour. i still have the filters that i used on trans fluid.

not really sure but 1st off i think it will be best to, but haven't really used it yet. when i get some veg oil, i will start running, checking flow/cleanliness to either speed up/slow down flow. then i will know what i can do. have a timer i might hook up to it so it will stop when i want it to.

I am gonna stick with my screen wire, smaller screen wire, settle, blue jeans filter, 10 micron water filter, 5 micron hanging sock, and 5 micron spin on pump and mixing filter. I dont spend $100 a year on stuff and I can walk away on mine and it will do 20 gal all by itself safely. Mine uses 12 volt batterys for power charged by a homemade solar charger too. How much electricity do u use? I can do final filter with the blue jeans and water filter and 5 micron socks and do 300 gallons in 4 days. Plus I can come and go all day.

Gotta pay for the electricty to run the fuge and when the weather cools I think u have to heat the WVO to get it fuged. I cold filter mine right down to freezing. Cold filtering causes the blue jeans to not let the animal fat go thru the material.

The fuge is just a much faster way. If you only get small quantities of oil and can't let it settle the fuge is the way to go. Or if you want to process large quantities fast.
For me it was the "neat" factor too.

Oh and electricity cost is minimal when you consider you are saving $3.75ish a gallon in fuel
