Yep, thats right. Does this look normal? I don't remember seeing this 1.5 years ago when I took off the intakes.

Can't upload images over my quota, how do I delete old ones?

Anyhow it is visable and it is in liquid form (like off the dipstick). Maybe this is why I've been getting such good mileage :)

I wish i could do pix.

Also I broke one of those clamps that holds the hi-temp boot from turbo to intake. Dealer Item?

First, is your motor using oil?

Second, does your motor have an excessive amount of crank case blow by?

Now, generally: and I say that with caution; the oil can only come from 2 places. The crank case (vapors), or the oil seal in the turbo. Both are repairable.

Remove the tube from the crank case CDR valve and let it vent to the air. plug the hole with something that won't get sucked in, clean your intake and then see if the oil comes back again. If it does you may have a turbo compressor seal that is leaking oil and blowing it into the turbo compressor housing, ( common occurance ) :biggrin5:

The hose clamp is a 2.5 inch size and a good turbo clamp off of fleabay will suffice, make sure it is a wide band clamp and has a locking nut / constant tension clamp. The spring style we have is designed to allow for heat expansion of the turbo housing and the intake, wile maintaining constant pressure on the clamp.

I have no blowby whatsoever. Pix are on the old place, it wont let me upload them here.

Faulty CDR do this? It was just so fresh looking i'm, thinking turbo seal.

Message is gone, let me try my pix out now.

Looks to be "normal" to me, what Slim & I are finding though with the A-team turbo there seems to be less residual oil, in intake tract, no quantitative data yet plus he is running with CDR venting, and mine is still going to the turbo inlet boot, but visually last time I had mine open there was very little residual oil in the intake. Lower back pressure/less crank case pressure ??? I don't know, but oil consumption is down as well as less oil in intake. Still keeping track of things like this to see if it can be tied to turbo swap out as being the difference, my 98 Burb still has the GM-8 on it so I have 2 very similar platforms in my stable of vehicles to make comparisons with.

I totally don't remember the oil there before when I had them off probably 20-30k miles ago... No biggy either way. Apparently my intake gaskets are leaking. I noticed I left some crap from old gasket behind last time. Whats the torque on intakes anyhow? Winter repairs aren't nearly as thorough as summer repairs :) Damn you southerners.

my 93 looks worse than that(256,000 miles)...but 95 (180,000 miles) doesn't have any oil in it....

i know the 93 is a gm1.....is the 95 a gm3?...the tag is gone...

"Pix are on the old place"

You mean over at the "Stanadyne" forum?? :smilielol5:

Sorry Matt, -couldn't resist!

If your blowby is minimal, it could be that the CDR isn't doing what it's supposed to. Rumor has it, warm soapy water can revive a malfunctioning CDR. Do not use any compressed air or solvent on them.

I'll probably take a beating for this, -but I'm not a huge proponent of the whole CDR thing.

I understand why it's there, but it sure seems to be the root cause of a lot of skunked-up intakes.

I've got mine vented also, -with a big honkin' K&N on the end of the hose.

Ok, I'm ready for a bashing, -let me have it.... :biggrin5:

Venting the CDR not on the turbo ? This can be done ? Please elaborate. I was kinda under the impression that it needed to be hooked up to the turbo to pull the combustion vapors out of the crankcase. Can it vent sufficently without being hooked up to the turbo?

CDR venting to atmosphere is a very lively topic......both here and DP.
Even more so for Massive Blowby members with oily caked up intakes.

do you have pictures on how to do this CDR bypass? I did not know that you could bypass this thing. I was under the understanding that you "had" to connect it to the turbo too keep things working correctly. Like the person two post above me. When I was home I took my rubber turbo to air filter hose off and it was gummed up all the way to the turbo. I cleaned it all up and put it back together. My brother did the CDR test a month or so before I drove the truck and did this and it tested fine. Anyways do you have pics so I can try this on my truck? Thanks!

its as simple as attaching a hose to the pipe and routing it down to the frame, literally. There are some powerful people here however, that do NOT like the idea at all, for emissions and other reasons, but to be honest mine is on the SSdiesel elbow and never fit right, so it never seals, and I havn't had an issue with it, I think I'll be rerouting mine soon, if you wanna wait to see if my truck explodes
