Exhaust tubing bender?

Can I use this to bend tubing to make a exhaust? Ive been wanting a bender and this one will do up to 3". Does anyone know if these will bend exhaust tubing?


Handles pipe up to 3" in diameter. This portable unit will do precise bending of gas, water pipes and electrical conduit, etc. Sizes from1/2" to 3" will bend to 90°.


Roller adjustments: 8-1/2", 11-7/16", 14-3/8", 17-1/4", 20-1/4" and 23-1/8"
Die sizes: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2", 2", 2-1/2", 3"

Buddy has a harbor freight one. IT SUCKS! They should call it the tubing smasher. Maybe if you height it first or maybe I did something wrong. Wasnt worth anything IMO

Im just wondering if it only works on thicker tubes, maybe at 3" you would need 1/4 walls.

Ive never used one, I see a guy use one once but it was on smaller stuff like 1" and it worked good. It seems like he said it will smash thin wall tube but I cant remember.

If you fill the tubing with fine sand and weld the ends shut it'll do a better job.
For what its worth you prob better of to buy ready made bends from a auto parts store.

Don't forget to ...
pound the sand
in there real tight before welding the ends up, or it won't work right.

Always wanted to tell somebody to pound sand and not cause a problem.

Im wondering if stone dust would work better.

I'll probably end up buying one and trying it.

FWIW I'd just get a Jardine straight thru 4" system and be done with it!
