Howdy, Ive got an 03 dmax With
AFE stage 2 intake and throttle body spacer
Just bought bullydog triple dog w/ outlook mon.
and trying to get figure out what exhaust to put on this thing.:noidea:
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

An exhaust is an exhaust. A 4" is all that you need. A 5" will sould nicer and gives you more bragging rights but you dont need it.

Down in Florida an aluminized exhaust will be fine as long as you arent by the ocean a lot.

It boils down to just what yu want and what you want to spend. You can spend as little as $250 on a motoblue 4" aluminized system or as much as $1,200 on MBRP T304 cool duals.

Personally I made my own 5" single stack, which has a new 6" tip in the works someday.

I went with a T304 MBRP 4" Cat-Back exhaust. I love the looks and sound over my stock.

I'm fixing to purchase a cat-delete pipe for my system to see if I like the change.

ooo ooo...MBRP 5 in turbo back :)

if you get magna flow and get a tip for it, dont have them put the tip on. ive read that they slide the tip over the piping and weld it on without cutting the like 6 in off the pipe first. so standing to the side you see the big tip and half an inch in from the rim is your exhaust pipe:doh:

You already have AFE stuff. I got an AFE 4" turbo back for mine and it installed nice and sounds good. I wouldn't go 5" unless you're going real ig on the HP.

I just realized this??

What is this throttle body spacer. Its obviously not a true throttle body spacer as up until recently diesels didnt have throttle bodys.

Is it that little intake spacer thing?? What exactly is the point of that??

Im just curious, dont really see how making the intake tract a whole 1" longer adds power.

Exactly. Depends on what you want. I have a 4" kit from Jegs and really like it. Spent 320 bucks shipped and went in with no issues. Did it in my driveway. In my opinion a manderal bend is a manderal bend. I careless about a brand name.

Im putting a motoblue 4" on in place of the straight pipe stack for the off season. Quiet it down a bit and make the truck not stand out as much.

Im sick of people calling me in for speeding by their house when Im not. And the drone in the cab gets a little bit annoying. And itll be fun to be able to cover people in smoke again.

I think its like $270 after shipping.

It is suppose to feed the air in better, but I think it just makes the truck sound more like an airplane takin off. who knows but it sounds cool.

Well I ended up picking up a used Silverline 4" 409 stainless off of a 07 Cummins. The kid put a single stack on it.

I got it for free and spent $80 on clamps and a piece of flex to make it all work.

Itll take some time making the hangers but at least its cheap.

ya got some stock rims today too. Truck will be a lot less flashy after the weekend.

I just had my muffler cut out and replaced a stock sized piece of tube. It is WAY louder and sounds killer! Me and my buddy had ours done at the same time. his is a crew/longbox mine is short. His isnt half as loud. I have a 4"dia x16" tip on mine he doesnt. I think thats why mine sounds so much better. Anyways it was a stellar cheap mod that did tons for my sound

I finished my exhaust up on monday.

Its a 4" 409 Stainless I got off of my buddies cummins as I stated above.\

I bought a bunch of 1/2" rod and spent a lot of time bending my own hangers.

I cut off the old hangers, ground them down smooth and welded the new ones on.

I also used some mothers mag polish and buffed the muffler as it is 304 stainless.

I also got some 600, 1,000 , 1,500 and 2,000 grit sandpaper and started polishing the tailpipe. It turned out pretty nice.

I was also able to snake my flex pipe above the frame crossmember up front for a cleaner look.

Needless to say its alot quieter and nicer to drive. And now I can smoke out bikers.

I realize this might be more of a tuner question, but my truck does not smoke at all hardly. I will get a tiny bit if I can it from a standstill but not enough. Is that good? Is it bad? What does it mean?

That would fall under tuning. Fill out your signature so we know what kind of mods and such you have done to your truck.
