OK did some more tests today. Installed my guages. FP isn't hooked up yt as waiting for FTB but I hooked up the EGT and Boost. Oh Boy...I can't beleive I didn't melt the motor when we went camping. I never saw an EGT guage move so quickly. Under acceleration with no load(no towing) it pinned right up to 1200. It is an Autometer saw I know it's accurate. The boost under full throttle was struggling to get 6 psi. Cruising it had nothing. So as an experiment I used a hand vacuum pump and hooked it directly to the wastegate pot and pumped it to 25 inches (Almost the equivelent of wiring it shut) and went for a test drive. It snapped boost. Still had a quick belch of smoke when I mashed it but no sustained smoke under fuel. Whn I tried climbing a hill the boost hit 17psi and the truck felt like with was starving for fuel. Is that what de fueling by the PCM feels like ? It did NOT throw any codes which I thought was REALLY weird. I'm beginning to wonder if this truck has a tune already. At 17psi It should have thrown overboost codes no ? EGTS were way better. Fluu throttle up a hill I had about 800.
Yup you probably defueled it it on over boost, or maybe high IAT which does not code if you had a scan tool possibly you would have seen max fuel limited to 50mm, once you shut down and restarted the defuel condition cleared up.
If youre running that much boost it takes 10 seconds to code when more than 2psi over the desired, and the desired on stock is like 12psi max at 1800-2000 rpm.
