Just added my engine oil cooler kit to the line up. The cooler is a direct fit, but as these are new hoses and not aluminium lines you will have to run them another way. I ran mine from the block up under the motor mount and out to the cooler. See the web site for more info. I am computered out for totay. Any questions please ask.
Oh, this is for 2WD. I will be working on the 4x4 kit later. www.pmdcable.com

Same size as stock, that way it will mount easily. Just unbolt the old and bolt this one in the stock brackets.
The problem with the stock cooler is the type of fittings used.
The new cooler has 1/2" pipe fittings on it and is a better way to make the connections.

How is this oil cooler better than the stock one?

Not trying to be a smarta$$, I just don't know.

Well, I did'int say the cooler was better just that it is a better way to make the connections. The cooler itself it exactly the same otherwise.
If you need new lines you have 3 options
1. replace the original leak prone style hoses and keep stock cooler.
2) Cut the aluminium hard lines and use a compession fitting and adapt it to your new lines/hoses still keeping the stock cooler. FYI IMO I don't like the idea of a compreesion fitting on aluminium (again IMHO)
3) Get a whole new kit with hoses and new cooler.
Thanks

Not entirely true adapters can be had that will allow you to make up whole new lines and keep the stock cooler. However in support of your product and the others out there price and hassle wise such kits cannot really be beat for the average Joe.

Out of interest what are the specs on the hose that you are using?

Cheers

I think thats what I just said. See option #2.

The hose is rated to 300 psi and 400 degreesF.
Stainless steel braided, teflon lined hoses are avaiable also. $225.00

No, adapters that screw into the stock cooler directly and avoid the whole aluminium cutting/compression fitting method. This applies to the later 5/8" size hose at least. I cannot speak for the earlier 1/2" size hose although I would not be surprised if that could not be adapted also.

You are right adapters are available. But with their cost it just makes more since to go with a new cooler with NPT threads. We use to sell lines only which was over 400 sets with adapters. Then the adapters really went up in price especially for the 5/8 lines. Plus the adapters did not work well and could leak and line placement was critical. That was over 4 years ago. At that time in just made more since to replace the cooler instead of using adapters. So know you pay about the same price for a new cooler and lines as what you would pay for lines and adapters. Big advantage now is if a line does need replaced that it can be done very easily. With proper fittings you get and OEM fit. With over 600 of the new kits sold we must have made the right choice.

I see, Something like an A/C fitting? What would be nice is a direct adapter fitting, something without any length of hard line on it at all. Kind of like a pipe thread reducing bushing, but with the correct Oring to pipe configuation.

Leroy note what Greg said which I agree with as I implied in my first post, stick with the new cooler/hose combination and you cannot go wrong. The adapters use an O-Ring to seal as you suspected and are 45 DEG JIC male flare on the other side. Mine are fine and do not leak at all however this style fitting does require a wee bit of prior experience when fitting and can easily be undertightened causing leaks or overtightened possibly stripping threads or causing the O-Ring to spread and come out also causing a leak. Stick with what you are doing it's a more KISS, price friendly easier to install system with less risk for leaks.

Just a note to those out there if you search my name here and the place you'll find the relevant Parker part# in prior posts with pics to do this yourself if you want to try and be cheaper. However I have said it before in all reality you cannot beat the kits with new cooler and now suggest this myself as the best solution.

But its not the same either.

I do respect who you are and the fact that you have been selling oil coolers longer than me. I bit my tounge when you posted the first time and even though you are not a supporting vendor (yet??), but if you don't want me posting in your threads about how many I've sold or this or that, then please respect me also. I have no problem if you want to add something constructive.
