well I have not had to do a State Emmissions on my Tahoe since I did all the goodies listed in my sig. Whadda you guys think ? Will it pass ?
It ahhh.. Looked a little light inside the Soot Trap too... I swapped an F Intake but bolted the egr back on top and left it plugged in so it looks stock. I think with it being an older truck and the new Ultra Low sulphur fuel, it should pass.

If you have gutted the cat since the last test its really questionable then. Even though you probably have better fuel burn now and less actual emissions out of the engine than before. Maybe someone has some experience with it, because as an IL resident I dont have to do emissions checks, even though Im in CA.

What do they test for emissions? Could you just register it commercial and not have to worry? Might not be cost effective just throwing that out there

I am sure you will pass, my kitty is hollow as well and all they do is an opacity test under load on a dyno at 40 Mph. My EGR has a flow problem just like yours :smile5:

I pass every year with less than .1 opacity with the same mods you have. No worries

Ditto here. We just have to pass an opacity test on a dyno, but we have to go to the single inspection station in the county, and it's run by the state -- so no friendly inspectors. :mad2:

My truck blew plenty of black smoke before I fixed the turbo wastegate. ...don't see what the soot trap really does. Mine might lose some weight.

In Ontario I pay $1/second for them to stair at my tail pipe for 30 Seconds. It can't have more than 5 seconds in a row of smoke at idle.
Seems like a cash grab to me.

Well, She passed !! I'll leave my commentary on how useless emmsions crap for P&R but the truck passed with flying colors and all emmisions devices may not be functioning....:)

:iagree:I get the same fun deal. mind you I think all of my test have been done in January and there outside  :D

Thats great news. They dont even check diesels here in CA, yet, but they are going to start in 2010. If I become a resident in the next few years I'll still be OK though, because their going after OBDII, diesel trucks from 97+. They plan to check for Cats and EGR function and aftermarket programming. No tailpipe test, but that same visual smoke check.
