egr blocking and finger sticking

As far as I can tell it may have slightly lowered my fuel economy during the winter months. After I blocked my EGR (in January '08), I noticed that the truck took A LOT longer to get up to optimal operating temps (190-200). If it is below freezing, it never got above 180 degrees (it would before I blocked it). It also cooled down much faster. Since it has warmed up, I am getting about the same mileage as I was before I blocked it. I guess what I am trying to say is that blocking the EGR will only affect mileage in cold weather, at least in my limited experience.
Hope this helps.
