You also never had a working fan clutch IIRC.

That was Heaths thoery. It was never proved or disproved as I sold the truck before putting the new fan on he sent me. I actually just sent it back to him like a month ago. I had forgotten I had it. Now I wish I kept it but damn conscience....:thumbsup:
I wanted to try the stock fan with the Hayden severe Duty clutch. I could really hear the fan on my old 2000 when that thing was in. Never got to tow with it so I'll never know.
 
IT works never had an issue that I know of. Can hear it scream at 2500 or above but by then I'm already above 210. I can't find the the fanclutch trick and have been looking for over an hour. I wil be putting in a 180 t-stat new c/o and d/p and tcc lockup switch in and if someone could tell me how to get the f/c to come in at alower temp I'll do that also. I need a new converter in the camper and all this is killing me. I won't have money left for trip at this rate but I damn sure can't afford to blow the motor up. I hate to use the credit card,{hate to be a slave to the banks as well as the gov.},but if I have to I will. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE FREE F/C SOLUTION IS!!!!!! Thanks

1995 Truck->GM Factory Stat only. Anything else bad...
 
I've been reading stuff on here all day and thinking maybe partly fuel problem,my lift pump also makes noise for about ten sec. after shut down. Don't know about the t-stat but I'm changing that to a 180 and doing the f/c trick next wknd.I'm going to hook up fpg and see what pressure I get at the fuel bleed port.Also under high boost it may be starving for fuel and raising egts. d/p and c/o will be here by wed. so I guess I will be real busy next wknd.
 
I bought a d/p from ebay for like $70 that is good fit and come out as straight 3" pipe rather than with a flange that would have hooked to stock pipe, which I didnt have. I also got a c/o kit with gaskets and studs for less than that.
 
The SS diesel exhaust is a Heartthrob. They use flat hangers not the modern round ones and don't fit sh*t. The down pipe has a thin flange and I managed to completely break mine off in 4000 miles.

A good ole boy muffler shop should be able to make you a complete 4" exhaust with down pipe. A local shop used a muffler flange to fix my down pipe.

You need to pull the oil cooler and remove the mat between it and condenser.

Check the radiator internally for being plugged by looking at the tube ends for a white build up.

Loose the internal fender air intake snorkel if yours still has it. Not sure if 1995 still used them.

Loss of fuel at high RPM will lower EGT's and boost. This is not a gas engine and does not care how lean it runs. You may be loosing boost at higher RPM due to a vac system malfunction.

A turbo master and a tune would make a night and day difference. The TM alone made 35 MPH hill climb a 43 MPH hill climb with the fuel turned up for both for me. (Tune turns the fuel up for you.)
 
The reason fuel starvation can get you is that you have to run higher RPM to produce more HP when there is not enough fuel available at lower RPM. With higher RPM even if you have the same fuel rate, youre using more fuel since our rate is based on a volume per 1000 cycles and a 1000 cycles happens faster at higher RPMs. So at 2000RPM and 50mm3 of fuel, if I go to 3000 RPM and 50mm3 of fuel my boost is going to go up but I may still be starving the engine.

Also when you defuel from DTC78 due to using a manual wastegate this all gets worse, because your max fuel rate at any RPM and TPS% drops significantly, which puts you into more advanced timing on the timing curve that is based on fuel rate and RPM, and more advanced timing will transfer more heat to the heads and block.
