I've been looking at exhaust upgrades and was wondering if anyone could tell me if the ssdiesel d/p and c/o are good quality and fit. I will get a chip for towing in a couple of weeks and figure I better at least replace the d/p. Is there a certain one that is a better fit than another. Found out the hard way that the balancer went bad not the p/s pump. Replaced that and now getting ready to tow thru fancy gap next month. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From what I've heard the c/o only makes a noticeable improvement when the double walled ones have collapsed.

Bought two of them for both my trucks. My recommendation is to stud the manifolds. It makes install way easier or you may find yourself wrestling with the crossover a bit trying to line the bolts up. That's the problem with one piece crossovers but the two piece ones rot out like nothing. The Flowmaster will last along long time. I live in the rust belt.

I'm a mechanic with my own shop and tools and do all the work myself. Also paint and body resto. I will not do i/p or things on this truck that are diesel only unless I can be sure that I have the tools and knowledge to do so.

FWIW,

I'm a carpenter, and with the help of the fellas here at this forum, i'd even jump into IP work.

With your background and shop, and the advice from the diesel pro's here, you shouldn't be afraid to do ANYTHING on that truck.

I also found about three inches of leaves between the cond/rad and pulled the rad and flushed it. It should tow cooler now. It only ran hot when towing uphill. I'm still going to do the c/o and d/p this week. And maybe a chip in two weeks. Still doing my homework to find the best value and performance for money.

Mine had the same issues. Cleaning the rad helps alot. Putting as waterpump off a 2000 and a beter fan clutch can help. Mine still overheated in exactly the same circumstances but the mods helped.

IT works never had an issue that I know of. Can hear it scream at 2500 or above but by then I'm already above 210. I can't find the the fanclutch trick and have been looking for over an hour. I wil be putting in a 180 t-stat new c/o and d/p and tcc lockup switch in and if someone could tell me how to get the f/c to come in at alower temp I'll do that also. I need a new converter in the camper and all this is killing me. I won't have money left for trip at this rate but I damn sure can't afford to blow the motor up. I hate to use the credit card,{hate to be a slave to the banks as well as the gov.},but if I have to I will. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE FREE F/C SOLUTION IS!!!!!! Thanks
