does anyone know the part number or what year for the dmax fan upgrade to a 1998 6.5 td. I'm thinking of getting one but some prices out there seem a little steep and since rockauto sells the fan blades it would help to know some part numbers. Ed

Kennedy Diesel's prices are in line with what you would expect.

just ordered the dmax fan for my truck. Awesome price and included an ac delco oil filter and exhaust gaskets, all for under 53.00 Canadian with free shipping within the USA, I have a parcel address just across the line. I know the fan # is wrong however I did the search for 03 dmax so hopefully I'm not shipping it back.

Radiator Fan #(15-80690) 1 $45.48
Oil Filter #(PF35L) 1 $8.73
Exh Manifold Set #(MS91587) 1 $10.99
Coupon Discount 1 $-10.00
Shipping (UPS Ground): $0.00
Free Shipping: -$0.00
Tax: $0.00
Total: $55.20

Well I just finished installing the new fan and it was the correct part. Odd, the new fan weighs about 2 lbs while the old one musta been 5 lbs. The new fan also appears to flow the air much more smoothly, must be because the old fan has rivets and is not nearly as smooth since the blades are stamped steel with bends in it that must be there for rigidity

That D Max fan is a world of difference.......You'll especially notice it when your dead stopped in traffic, idling with the A/C on.....It moves way more air than a 20" steel blade at any condition, but it "shines" at idle.

I just finished changing the t-stats. I think the previous ones were Chinese made. I'll post a pic of one. Maybe that's why I was having cooling-heating issues. It never overheated but took forever to warm up. once warmed up the gauge would swing all over the place, more so when towing.

So what were the final part #s you used? did you reuse clutch? I did the same mod on my 93 truck about 5-6 years ago so have lost part #s i used. I want to do it again on my 94 witch bolts to the pulley, I believe your is threaded on?

Did you wind up using "AC Delco 9 blade 21" plastic (97+ bolt on): 15010202" or "Radiator Fan #(15-80690)"
And just to confirm your fan clutch bolts to the pulley?

I ordered from http://www.autopartstomorrow.com/ and if you use code APTOE you get 10.00 off and free shipping on orders of 50.00 or more within the USA. Mine is also bolt on. and my old T-stats says made in CHINA. argh. The new ones are AC Delco but say made in Israel. Weird but you'd think they'd be made in Canada or the USA or even Mexico.

Very little you buy these days is made in the Americas.

Companies seeking to bolster thier bottom line have very little stomache for the labor rates.

Mexico is just about the last hold out fro decent labor/manufacturing costs (from a big business/bottom line point of view), but that's beginning to change also....

it all bolts on, 4 bolts for fan clutch and 4 more for fan to pulley. It is the 21 inch plastic 9 blade fan and part number was Radiator Fan #(15-80690) which I assume is their in house number for the fan. Anyhow it was all a direct bolt on and fits like it is supposed to be there.

you can clearly see CHINA on the t-stat. no telling how long it's looked like this except to say I installed it not knowing don't use Chinese parts in a 6.5. Ford's or Dodge go 4 it.

As long as the chinese mfg got the CORRECT spec, it is probably fine.

Trouble is the company who outsource them sometimes assume that the other side knows the spec.
Bad assumptions!!!

Id like to do this also, the 03 duramax fan is 1580690 on rock auto. Im putting it on a 6.2 turbo, is this a direct bolt on or am I stuck until I change to a surp belt with a 2000 water pump?

Another story of chinese made crap..No surprise at all. The only thing they make good is food and of course you gotta watch your cats...

They have a steeper blade pitch which is why they work so well, and are also louder when the clutch is locked.
