I am 54 years old, and just bought my first diesel. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, new body style, 6.6L LMM Duramax. I am planning on having my DPF reworked, and having an external fuel pump installed. What other things are recommended? Not so much for high horsepower, but things to make it last longer, and run better.My truck.jpg

I love that body style.
My son has a 2016 and it is similar. Not sure of the differences between the 2007 and the 2016 though.
I’d own either one though if given the chance.
My sons truck it has that CP4 (might be wrong initials) on it. I have warned him several times about that pump and how bad it will be if it grenades. He finally told Me that He has thought about the consequences and said that He is going to the CP3 pump and will be installing a lift pump to also create more longevity on that pump too.
Maybe someone that knows more about such matters will come in shortly and explain how it all comes together, or, blows apart. 🤷‍♂️😹😹😹

I am planning on having my DPF reworked

In these modern times you are best to leave the emissions alone. Shops that sell anything to rework em have gone away with the EPA crackdown. So you will be hard pressed to find parts to mess with it anymore. If you ever sell it, after it's modified, the buyer can force you to put it back to stock emissions on your dime regardless of the cost or the truck's value.

If a DPF bothers you: sell it and pay the higher price for a older Diesel that doesn't have one. Or you may be able to retrofit it to more modern emissions that use DEF and try and gain some of the 10% MPG loss the DPF only years suffered.
 
I just say if you remove or alter that exhaust (for testing purposes or off road racing purposes only of coarse) then save the old parts on the shelf for post race inspections by any of epas inspection.
