These guys are the best at it nationwide so work with them, read all the tech you can here and your new to you truck will be running like a champ in no time. They Will spend your money for you too. ;-)

With a 1994 you will want to do the lift pump relay upgrade. You can make one yourself or buy one from leroydiesel.com. Get the prime feature and a toggle switch so you can run the lift pump whenever you want - good for doing diagnostics and priming the fuel filter when you change it.

You can test the glow plugs with continuity tester, in the truck, with the wire removed. I us Ac Delco 60G's Others use Bosch duraterms.

as far as I know there are no other glow plugs worth buying or installing.

I would check the glow plugs to see if that is your hard start issue.

Also have your batteries load tested. These 6.5's require good batteries and battery cables to start good.

You could also have a fuel leak down issue causing you grief.
And the 60G's I can get from napa correct that are for the 6.5td

Yes a mechanical gauge is how you verify.

If you slip it in nuetral and rev the engine a little, does it stay no pressure under those situations, or does it come up a bit?

It'll come up but once you stop doing that the oil pressure goes back to 0

Oil level ok?

Get an UOA kit: Used oil analysis. Change the oil. Cut open the oil oil filter. It's $28.00 for a sample. (Shop it if you like, but, you need one ASAP.) You need to know if you are getting coolant in the oil. Coolant will kill an engine faster than the past government mandated "clunker bomb".

Be aware under heavy use the oil change interval is 2500 miles. You are not planning on heavy use, but, unknown what the PO did.

Replace the OPS, oil pressure sender, with an AC Delco as it's an unknown. The OPS also powers the lift pump and is known to burn up. Hence the relay kit advice.

Grounds Grounds Grounds. You will maintain clean grounds and battery connections for the best 6.5 experience. The small wire ground by the transmission dipstick must be perfect. Yes, this means take it apart to be sure - if in doubt replace the ring terminal on the two wires.

Tip of the day: to test the batteries you need to unhook them. Remove the ground connections first: Why? if you drop a ground nothing happens. If you drop a positive connection with the other battery hooked up you get sparks and other 600+ amp welding and wire melting fire action. If you are very, very unlucky the battery explodes.

I would do an oil change also if you havent done one since you bought it.

Look at the oil cooling hoses and oil cooler by the radiator, and 3 oil ports on block (behind left rear head, in front of right front heav and in the valley where your ops should be. Make sure nothing is leaking.

Im not meaning coolant mixing with oil.
Whenever that happens in an engine, the oil/coolant looks like a vanilla milkshake color. Mmm, now I want a milkshake...

If you have a leak at the oil ports it can "steal" oil pressure. Just a glance should tell you about the 3 ports. The hoses take a little time-2-3 minutes.

No, by the time you see the coolant milkshake it's too late and generally the locked up or otherwise destroyed bearings engine is coming out. UOA is just early warning off a long term trend. Sometimes it gets you a phone call from the lab with pending engine destruction. More than one aircraft has been stopped on the runway due to an oil lab calling about massive metal in the oil prior to total engine failure.

The best result is a good oil sample and a failed OPS.
 
Well. Now I can hear a loud knock and there's no oil in the coolant I checked before I started it this morning
