Anyone have a good source for the older DB2 shutdown solinoid and cold advance solinoids? I recently got a like new DB2 from a military hummer and of course it's 24v, i'd like to replace those solonoids with new 12v ones. Anyone have a good source for those?
Thanks
Don

Thanks Missy!! I called the closest Stanadyne service shop & asked what it would cost if they did it and got a smart-a** answer - oh just swap the cover - BS. I'll call these people.

Hey Don checkout Midwest Fuel Injection, they helped me with mine last month when my new IP went whacko, also try pensacola fuel they aren't a "authorized" stanadyne shop anymore but may have a used but good item for you.

I may have a cap with functioning solenoids here. The pumps are in need of rebuilds(2 pumps with old style crumlbed gov rings), but last i checked the caps were ok. I"ll double check for you if you'd like. Just send me a PM if your interested.

Accurate Diesel. He was a site vendor at the old site. Tim is a great guy and will sell both new and used parts for IPs. I got a used ESO for my Tahoe. A simple web search will bring you right to him. I bought many things from him without issue.

I was offered a military 24v db2 for what seems like a decent price, and there's some listed on ebay. Sounds like a pretty easy thing to "swap the caps", but is it really, and is that all there is to it?

The book I have shows four connections:

Housing Pressure Cold Advance (HCPA) solenoid
Internal Fuel Shut off solenoid
Fast Idle Solenoid
Throttle Position Sensor

The first three apparently get battery voltage (and return is through the housing.... hmm, grounds at work here?). The throttle position sensor inputs to the Transmission Control Module. It doesn't say, but I'd guess it's some kind of proportional resistive device, which at full scale would again be battery voltage.

So the question is....... Are all the functions contained within a "cap" that is simply swapped, or is there some other monkeying around required to use the military version?

The cold advance and fuel shutoff are in the cap, only thing about swapping the cap is you have to be carefull how you put in on. Install it wrong and you could have a run-away engine until you cut the fuel or it blows. The cold advance and tps are external to the IP on the DB2, they bolt on the outside.
