1995 Chevy 6.5L N/A diesel Blew the alternator yesterday & replaced. The tranny was rebuilt a week ago & hard shifting since. Checking the TPS settings according to what I can find for the 6.2L N/A diesel it was set too low. Having said that & changing it I find another screw on the pump sort of above the TPS which has an effect but I don't know what it is. Any one know the TPS settings for this & what the other screw on the pump is for? Thanks

I think it is for the idle setting and or the cold high idle setting or both. You also have a advance on one side but not sure if that is adjustable.

Not sure what the shop manual says... On mine I set it so at wot it is 5v and at idle it is just over 0v.
The reading needs to raise alittle at a time as you move the throttle towards wot until at wot it reads 5v. Look for any dead spots. It is fairly common to see them in the areas where the tps sits in the same spot for long times. Like at 55-70mph.

Any idea what the TPS setting should be for the mechanical pump on the 6.5 N/A diesel?

First, turn the key on but do not start the engine. Next, using a voltmeter, check the voltage between the dark blue and black wires of the TPS (the dark blue is the + side). It should be ½ to ¾ volt at idle and 4.2 - 4.5 volts at full throttle.

Done. But since it is 15 years old & the tranny still shifts a little different each time I can guess, not assume that maybe it has flat spots & could use replacing. That I will do tomorrow & see if I get consistency out of the tranny shifting.
