Well Sunday saw some serious leaps forward.

The heads are back on now and the valve train is all in and buttoned down.

Front cover is back on with the water pump too.
Got the IP back in and a few other little things.
Wiring harness plugged in and stuffed into the valley.

Waiting on a couple O rings for the Oil filter adapter then I can prime the engine with oil.

With any luck I can get the sucker back in the chassis in the next couple weeks.
Still need to repair a little bit of wiring in the engine bay and steam clean it some. (DIRTY YUUUCCCCKKKK )

Mmmmmm, Cat yellow.

Thing looks sweeet!

When you gonna be ready to light it off?

Dad rebuilt a 6.2 for a kid a while back and he had him paint it Caterpillar yellow. I actually kind-of liked it, even though it was a competitor color. At least it's not black. The yellow is very tasteful-

Mine is going to be yellow too. i will post the pics when painted, if i can get the piston thing sorted out....

Dieselslug,

You will get it all figured out. These old truck are easier to work on than that old fox body you got. Just relax drink a beer and get elbow deep into it.

You have all the 6.5 heads here on DTR to help you along the way!

OMG yesssssssssssss let me see. Missy runs off to get some PINK to paint the intake with.

Cat yellow with a PINK intake. Now that would just wreak of a ladies touch.

Probably not in good taste though.

Gonna leave the intake and top hat bare aluminum as it came from Ma General

Just soooooooooooooo sick of black everything under the hood.

One more mod thats gonna happen.

The idiot that designed the radiator drain cock should have been tarred and feathered.

Cant reach it at all when the fan shroud is in there and then the coolant runs down the core support and drools all over everywhere.

Gonna trim the inner fender to make a hand hole so the drain can be reached and also add a hole in the core support so the nipple on the drain will allow a short hose to connect and drain the coolant into a bucket.

Replaced the Radiator on the Burb last night due to a broken uopper hose Bibb.

Could not get the drain to work. Unhooked the lower hose and caught as much coolant as possible with 3 buckets, OMG what a mess.

All fine now but the neighbors probably still have burning ears.

I hate to waste coolant, plus dont like it on the ground where the little critters can get into it.

Not sure on the lightoff yet.

Still got to clean the engine bay up and do some policing up of the wiring to the RH side.
Pretty tacky in that area due to a small engine fire from PO or????

Got the filter dapter O rings yesterday so I can proceed with a prime job.

Took about 15 injectors over to Mark a DFIS yesterday. They were all junk. I can pee a better stream than that bunch.

Three of the originals from DaHooooley we tested looked more like a Dog Barfing than an injector spraying.

Sadly the beast still ran good and got 19 MPG Hwy and 17 city

Gonna have them do a set of 8 using the best of the bunch for the cores.

Not in a huge hurry. As long as its up and cruising before rain flies Im good with it.

Hope for later this month.

Got to yank the oil cooler off the chassis yet and flush all the crap out of it too.
Got a fresh set of cooler lines (Ma General) to go back on too.

Just want things that are hard to get to, done right while they can be reached with ease.

Just soo much stuff keeps creeping in to use up my time. By the time I get home at the end of the day I really dont feel like wrenching.

My patience is in inverse proportion to the length of time I have been awake.

Up at 5:30 am and by noon my fuse is short, by 6 PM all bets are off. :rolleyes5:

Looking good, Robyn! As long as you don't paint things orange, green, yellow, red... like CanadianRigger did with his 2000 :D

Kennedy has some pics of the coolant-drain modification on his site, under 'tech tips', if you are interested.

Looks awesome. Will look nice all dressed up with acc's. I bet you can't wait to smell that paint heat up for the first time, as she's purring away! Next couple weeks? Looks like its ready to go!

That one was terribly bright. I had to run for my welding helmet every time I pulled one of his engine bay photos up.):h

Awe heck its just a truck.

I just want it to run good and be reliable.

Aint going to Concours d'Elegance with this damned thing ya know ):h

Just had to do something different rather than the old rattle can Black.

The Cat yellow will definately spook some of the local Powestroke kiddies ):h

I am definately toying with the idea of some CAT mud flaps and maybe a set of 6 inch cowboy cut STACKS up back of the cab.

OMG How Redneck :D

You betcha I am

Chrome the thermostat housing, ):h

Need any help putting the engine in, I've had alot of experience recently, :mad2:

YESSSSSSSSSS Thats it, a chrome T stat housing will make it look trick.

I have been reading about your nasty little in and out, in and out episode.

I have done my share with these things. Not had one bounce like yours though.

I am very currious as to what was the cause for sure.
