cummins turbo put on 6.2

I think that was done way before Diesel Power magazine picked up on it. A friend of mine, Don, had one on his 6.5 burb back in the middle of 2009. I was there in jan '09 when he showed me the turbo on his bench saying "this will fit and work when i'm finished."

Not sure if he was the first to do it, but he certainly was the one that inspired both TTS and DP members to give it a whirl.

And he did it on a 6.5 with a DS4, which is more than bolting a turbo on and turning the fuel screw up, which is all that was done in the article.

Anyways, my point was the guy in the magazine is not the first to do an HE351VE on a 6.x IDI, and i'm sure he won't be the last.

It is a great setup, and the route i plan to go at some point on my 96 whenever funds allow it.

its too bad that back in 09 when you seen that turbo on dons bench that you didnt go out and buy 20 of them when they were just about giving them away....LOL.... could have doubled or even tripled your money today:agreed:

The worst part was i think i encouraged him by saying "that'll never fit on there." LOL. Next thing i know i'm getting a phone call that said "you've gotta see this." :rof:

He got that turbo for dirt cheap. $150, in perfect working condition IIRC. Now you can't touch one for what $3-400?
 
Ha yeah that is Korys truck and from what I am told, mine is right beside his in there LOL, I don't know yet. He got the VGT idea from ME :) which I got from turbonator and Don :D
 
I tried to find it on Diesel Power's site but can't find it. I looked at what i thought was the Oct issue and didn't see that in there. May have been the Sept issue i was looking at. Can't remember.
 
No you are right dave I looked too, it says October 2011 readers rides but that is last issues, but i can't remember what last issue's month was, because its never the month you're in :???:

The picture is of a magazine, so it's out in some issue somewhere. Just have to find it. Strange that i can't find it on the Diesel Power Mag site.

they wont have it up there till next month most likely. i got my dp mag today and saw you guys together. i didnt know you guys were friends
 
Ha yeah we grew up together in a small town, he is about a 1/4 mile from my house. We bought are trucks from the same guy too ha. You are right about the DP mag site, they don't have the newest articles up yet from the most recent issue.
