I happen to have a spare cable and brain box laying around, if You need it, send Me a PM.Most likely Cruise Control Switch in the column (A real Bitch to swap out with the wires going all the way through the column ), cable adjustment, brain box on firewall. Connections, Grounds...
@Will L. It's the same stepper motor "Box" the throttle cable gas engines use.
It is too bad that there is not some kind of a device to hook to the switches wire terninal under the dash to check the switches functions. At least there is none that I know of.Ok guys thanks a bunch!! I'm going to go back through and recheck everything but I'm thinking WW is probly right about the switch, the cable seems free, and thinking about it, it had gotten so's I had to push the button a time or two or hold it in for a few extra seconds to get it to take. But before I change it I'll check everything again and the brake switch for sure.
You can check the switch with a test light. It's nothing complex, just 4 wires, 1 is powered, and each of the 3 others is powered with a different function. You have to backprobe to test them, but it's very doable. And I didn't find the switches that bad to do in the 90's style column, yes the 80's column was tighter, but I just used a piece of 80 lb fishing line, and some tape to wrap around the connector when I put the new one in.
