Hi There
I am totally new to this site and trying to source information on two vehicles I am looking at to purchase to Tow a folding Catamaran I have designed.
The first vehicle is an 1995 GMC Z71 6.5 diesel with LPG boost and Banks power chiped computer its a 1500 model with VIN 2GTEK19S9S1508629 can anyone tell me what its build spec is and what its towing capability is?
The second vehicle is an 1994 Chevrolet K3500 4x4 with Banks power pack it is the double cab with full size deck its VIN 1GCHK33F9RJ361281 any help would be much appreciated.
I need to Tow about 7800lbs to 9000lbs.

Welcome Craig! You came to the right place for info on the 6.5. We have the best members around. Give it time, parooze through that side of the house and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

Thank you

Hi There and thank you so much for the welcome and help it is like pulling teeth getting information over here, most of the dealers are slippery and will tell you anything to sell a truck.
Regards
Craig

Thank you
Friday night 10:43 pm off to look at the GMC tomorrow but think the 3500 may be the better Truck even though she is older. The GMC is one owner from the States brought to NZ by him and he is now in Abau Dabu so he is selling it with 74,000kms on the clock, wants $35,000NZ or offer for it.
The other has 217,000 miles on it but is as honest as the day is long.
Regards
Craig

And I thought that issue (stealers) was only in the states--

Thank you all
Went and had a look at the GMC yesterday not big enough for a 40' x 10' x 13' catamaran behind it folded on its trailer. Will go with the 3500 4x4 unless I can find the same in dually, they are like rocking horse shite here and because of our nana state laws on importing we can no longer import pre 2005 versions unless we have owned and driven vehicle in States for x years and bring vehicle home with us and keep for 5yrs before selling if ever so the market for older models is drying up fast. Good if you are selling as price can only appreciate but not that flash if you are buying.
Thanks for all the positives guys and I will keep you posted when I get the beast.
Regards

Hi all
Thanks for all the help, and there don't seem to be alot of the ones I'm looking for that I can find but lots of 6.5s for sure.
Update, I've made contact with the owner of the 3500 4x4 as yard were only selling on behalf and didn't know anything about it negotiations seem to be going in my direction with my offer at $28K NZ with the lowline canopy for the back of it and him sitting at $30K NZ.
will keep you posted.
Regards
Craig

Welcome to the site, that 3500 seems to be the better deal IMO. That Z-71 isnt really a work truck, you work it hard and you will be rebuilding the rear axle every other month. Those trucks are clean i must say, you wont find trucks around here that clean unless its been garage kept and never seen rain/snow.
