Could this salvage cracked block ?

A machine shop where I had Triumph cylinders bored and head work accomplished, we got to talking about repairs to cast iron.
He said He has repaired several Ford 460 blocks and they are holding together just fine after many years of running.
He said that He has also repaired cracked 6.2 and 6.5 blocks using this method.
Is it possible ?

Yes, depending where the crack is. It gets used frequently in many components including engine.
Cost is the usual down fall if you are not doing it yourself.

So possible to repair cracked main webs ?

I did it to a block (mains), I never got to use it as some head studs pulled when I was torquing it down. The kit isn't cheap.

My heads are stitched on the 94. For At least 100,000 miles worth.

I had it done on a Ford 6.9 IDI diesel which cracked from a freeze plug into a downward angle. I did this knowing that I would be able to keep my eye on it. Having said that, I would be skeptical about a repair inside the block that I would not be able to check on.

If I would ever dismantle the engine from My truck and, if it has cracked main webs, I’ll go for it, if for no other reason than to just do an experiment.
Pull the engine in 50,000 miles, dismantle and see how well the repair is holding up.
