considering buying a "new" engine

Jeff how many miles do you have on the engine you got from them? They're close enough to me for me to pick it up from their shop. I just don't want to get burned as I haven't heard too many good things about this place, most have been bad so kinda leery.

I really want to be done messing with engines in this truck other then maintenance.

I have just over 4k miles now. It is an extra vehicle for me, so it only gets driven occasionally on the weekend. I guess you could say it is the sunday driver.:WTF:

Between the work vehicle, and the wifes SUV, it just doesnt get driven a ton.....

Well I'm happy that you're having luck with them, so might be a slim possibility of getting a long block from them. 6500 is a lot to spend. When I talked to them on the phone they said they test run and give one year unlimited mileage warranty.

I do get what you're saying about spending money verus value of the truck. I've gone waaaaay past what this truck is worth in terms of what I've spent on it. I keep it cause I like it.

I hear you about the not used much part. This truck is suppose to be my backup/change up rig for my dd which is an 03 dodge diesel.

Boycee has a 30-90 day warranty. Ted's does not.

In any case I recommend deglazing the cylinders and putting in new rings. Sitting appears to rust the cylinders and some engines weren't run hard enough to break in the 2nd ring. I have had more blowby than I like with the take out engines until I re-ringed them.

Well some warranty is better then none. They want an awful lot for an engine that will probably need to get a basic rebuild of sorts. I actually picked up a decent used 6.2 for $80 pretty close to home. Engine needs to be bored at least 0.010 over. Which means new pistons and necessary machine work. So for what all that will cost I'd be willing to spend a little more to have that all done for me. Saving me some time which I don't have much of which free.
