I think it will if it thinks its to cold, seems like I had a issue once like that. There was 2 temp sensors. one for the guage and one for the trans.

They are cheap so its worth a try.

ok i thinking maybe cause the scanner is telling me, but their cheap and if it fixes it. wow that would be great

just for clarification the second one is what the PCM sees. it affects both engine and tranny

I think the other is on the back of the block. Seems like they are like $6 each. I have some Hayes manuals Ill see what I can find. I have to restart my comp, its being a buttmunch and freezing up on me

Looks like one right on top of the engine out in front and the other is in the back corner passenger side. Im pretty sure they are both the exact same.

The sensor you want is the two wire sensor that screws into thermostat crossover manifold. It is the temp sensor for the ECM. The sensor down on the cyl head if for the gauge.

I think you can unplug it and jump it out with a paper clip and that fools the computer into thinking the engine is warm.

The temp sensor that the gauge sees is on the front outside of the drivers side head. Just in front of the front exhaust outlet is a glowplug, and in front of that is the sensor.

The sensor that the computer reads is on the coolant crossover. On the top side and aiming towards the passenger side. This sensor can also affect how the torque converter locks up (controlled by the computer).

ok i went and bought a coolant tempature sensor. for the one up front and changed it out.
So far so good shifted in to over drive no problem. hoping that was it. 50 mph just under 2000 rpms
