Code 1214 and TDC -2.46

this is an updated report of what we do to perform a TDCO learn, it replaces the previous post. I couldn't edit the previous post because I took too long and the 15 minute time-frame to edit expired.

Just to make sure we're using the Tech 2 correctly, here's what we're doing:

We get the engine up to temp (>170* F) and connect the Tech 2. With the engine running, we get the Tech 2 set up with the correct year and vehicle type, we have the menu page which allows you to select the "powertrain." You then have to select the engine, product line, and transmission. Once that's done, it brings up the page with the following selections: DTC, Data Display, Special Functions, snapshot, etc.

We select the DTC and clear the codes. We then back out of that page and go to special functions, then the engine output controls, then injection pump page. We then see a few selections: Time Set, something else, TDCO Learn, and there might be a fourth selection, but I can't remember.

We select the TDCO Learn menu option by highlighting it and pushing the "enter" button. The screen changes to an engine parameters screen with the TDCO parameter highlighted. We press the "enter" button and at the top of the screen, it changes from "commanded: no" to "commanded: yes." It stays "yes" for probably about 20 seconds or so, with nothing happening (no change in engine speed, sound, nothing) and then returns to "no" again.

Does that sound correct or are we missing something?

TDCO remains at -2.46 and after the next start it throws the 1214 code again.

Hi there.
I've had a DSG gear set in my shelf a while, never had the time to install it. IIRR there is a 4 degrees built in advance in this set? Don't know if it is a cam advance or a pump advance, nor do I know if it's possible to build in an advance for the one of them?
But, in my simple head and simple way of thinking, with a 4 degree built in advance your'e so way of specs that the ECM will accept a relearn???? And isn't the 2.46 value an ECM sign to show that the pump is way off? (Sorry for my not too good technical english). TD has the knowladge to chime in here and tell if my thoughts are right or wrong.
