Just about lost the engine on my truck today. one of the oil cooler lines sprang a leak in the rubber section of the hose. Doing a temp fix on it for now,I have both a new and a used oil cooler kit but I'm not real excited about putting my new kit on my 264k engine. Thinking about the used one...

New has less risk of ruining the engine or re-doing the job in the dead of winter.

If you had the kits, why did you wait? Just the down time alone justified replacing them.

IMO the OEM oil lines are on the mandatory upgrade list.

I didn't put the new kit on as I was saving it for a new engine. I am probably going to try and flush the used one out and use it, but not right away as I'm busy. Leroy it was 1/2". here's a couple of pics of my temp fix that may stay on awhile.

oh and I specifically used the heavier worm drive clamps (5/16 nut driver) and tightened them with my dewalt impact driver so they are tight. I wouldn't have minded the hose barb fitting tighter but I guess I can't have it all. It fit without slop but I didn't have to force it in either.

what had happened is the lines had sagged over the years and rubbed on the front cross member. I flexed the aluminum tubing a little bit to bring them back up a little bit, didn't take hardly any force, so I'm assuming the weight of the lines caused the aluminum tubing to bend/sag over time.
