Choice between 1995 or 1996 what year would ya pick & why?

if it makes you feel any better. my 96 is a late model, and as far as i know it's not a squirter block. Always noticed the squirter blocks seem to have ~20-25 psi hot oil pressure no matter what. My pickup, when up to temp, never drops below 30(if i'm running it hard) or ~35 if i'm just normally driving. I've never seen a 96 that was a squirter block(as long as it had the original engine that is). Doesn't mean they aren't out there, but it must have been the last few months of 96(when the 97s would be out anyways).

Some very excellent points raised here thanks for sharing

I am departing today for a business trip, returning on Thursday or Friday. One of them is out of state, so that will require a road trip of flight to see it...

Thanks again...:)

I would take 95 couz i can modify engine parameters in real time, engine running, or vehicle moving.. havent found setup like that for obd2 diesel yet..

you mean moates emulator?

Nope.

Uses a PSOP44 flash chip.

The 6.5 is a 32 leg square flash chip.

But I'm working on something with a couple guys.........it's a very firm "maybe" right now.

Anyways, let's start another thread if you want to bounce ideas around.

Cheers

Ok I'm gonna take a flight to look at the 1995, owner claims clean southern truck no rust, but this is the one that has the veggie setup & that does scare me.

Any tips other then checking the normal things, the owner claims NO blowby, but it does have 213K on the clock...

This 1995 burb is a 2500 with 4.10 gears 4wd, I relaize it is not going to get the 22mpg that my 1500 2 wd delivers...not planning to run it like I do my daily 1500 as a daily driver...but I still would like to able to take it on a trip or 3 yearly...

Will I be able to pull 18mpg out of it if I keep the speed at 65~70mph with the 4wd & 4.10 gears?

I think it will do fine on fuel, Big T has one like that I believe. Its likely up for sale because it never ran quite right on veggie, because of the somewhat finicky DS4 when it comes to anything that significantly affects opacity/transparency of the fuel as well as viscocity.

Throw some lite aluminum rims on it like you did the 1500 and tall tires and it will roll at low enough RPMs.

If the fellow's veggy system is a good one, Frybrid or better, with aluminum or poly tank, and you can tell that he is super obsessive about the veggy, I wouldn't be bothered by it.

If it is a greasecar, or a Golden Fuel systems, or a DIY type setup, I would be very cautious.
