Chinese HUMVEE

Yes Ace, I understand your position.

Though, it looks like for a long time, 6.5 owners and others US cars/trucks (and that's the same for europeans and japanase cars owners) owners have been considered as cash cows, just because there were no alternatives if you want to buy spare parts.

One example is the PMD : the defects were probably known by Stanadyne, but they didn't improve anything, just sold the units and wait for them to die.
Then comes D-Tech (don't remember the name of the company who built them), with low price and improved design.
Stanadyne first tried to organize a campaign trying to proove these D-Tech are crap, instead of doing better ones.

Now, suddenly, they proudly announce they have a new improved one, which in fact is a D-Tech retro engineered.
Just have a grey color, gold in the plug contacts....and a new designed connector - so you can't use your stock one, at least you grind it -
cash cows I said, and they even think we are stupids.....
So, I would be happy if a good chinese DS4 appears on the market, now that these guys seem to understand/know they have to build good quality products, now they copy original while improving it (missy, were the heads improved in cooling ?) and offer that to us at affordable prices...

Indian items start to show too. For now, I have limited faith in their quality, though my BOSCH indian injectors work fine till 2 years now, but sure they will follow the same path than the chinese and will soon be able to sell good products at unbeatable prices.

That is another debate, but I think now we can't say any chinese item is crap, just because it comes from China at low prices. I say the problem has moved, and the original suppliers, instead of considering us as nut cash cows should have care better about us, respect us better, and I believe we won't have swap to chinese products.

I'm not willing to open a can of worms here, just to notice that I'm happy a source of spare parts show and grows. 6.5 is quite cheap about maintenance, and hopefully it will stay cheap ;)

Is a 94 Audi clone a desirable vehicle? Why? Got any photos?

Not trying to be cute - just not familiar with that rig.

-Rob :)

No, I wouldn't say it is desirable. It's just that after the company pulled production out of there, they continued to produce the vehicle. Chinese highways are loaded with cars Americans wouldn't be caught dead in. They're hideous. Maybe that's the reason the Audi sells - not sure.

I am old enoough to remember when made in Japan was the same thing we are discussing here. Now made in Japan means quality. It is inevitable.

Excellent post Matuva, the world is fast becoming a global community and we must all realize we (people) have the same goals and aspirations.
