Hi all!
I have been having troubles with my Suburban for awhile now. It occasionally just dies out when driving and need to wait ahile to start it again. I found out the check list which I'm trying to fill out as much as I know:

Problem: Explain your problem in concise language (ie: Cranks but won’t fire). Car dies out occassionally when driving. Then I need to wait a bit to start it again.

Demographics: tell us about your truck and your ambient conditions:

- Year: 1995
- Truck model and class (ie: c2500) 1500
- Automatic or Standard Automatic
- Mileage: (indicate miles or km) 300 000km
- Replaced parts and mods (IP, PMD, chip/PCM, TM, injectors etc) PMD, Crank position sensor, shutdown solenoid, pump checked
- Model: ‘S’ or ‘F’ engine, NA or Turbo, EGR? 6.5lTurbo
- Ambient outside temp: (indicate *C or *F) 20C
- What fuel are you using? (#1 Diesel, #2 Diesel, Bio, VO, WVO, etc) Diesel (don't know which one
- What fuel additives are you using? none
- Where are you located? Finland

General maintenance: inspect and evaluate the condition of each. When were they last changed?
- Air filter not known
- Fuel filter not known
- CDR Valve? not known
- Coolant – last flushed/replaced at not known
- Oil – synthetic/regular, changed at 1month ago, synthetic oil
- Batteries – state of charge, (matched set) replaced at normal charge, matched set
- Battery cables and grounds (removed, cleaned and tightened): checked
- Glow Plugs - how many miles on them? not known What type? not known
- Injectors - last changed at not known

History: (Describe how the problem first appeared.)
- What were you doing when it happened? Driving along minding my business
- How was the truck running fine before this problem appeared? truck was running just fine
- Has this problem ever happened before? It has been happening now quite often
- Describe any related factors that might be part of the problem. ______________
- Have you checked for DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)? (Y.N) Y And? No error codes

Diagnostics:

1] Starting:
1a] Does the engine start? Yes
1b] Does the engine crank over?
1c] Are your batteries fully charged? Yes
1d] Have you removed, cleaned, and tightened all battery connections? Yes
1e] Does your Wait to Start light come on for a time? How long? _________
1f] Does your glow plug light come on? Yes For how long? Few seconds
1g] Do you see smoke from the exhaust while cranking? What color? ________
1h] Does the Service Engine Light Glow during Start/bulb check? Yes I think so, not sure

2] Fuel Issues (if not running):
2a] Can you hear your lift pump working? yes
2b] Do you get a steady flow of fuel from the water drain (T-handle) ? yes
2c] Loosen the inlet line from the IP – is fuel coming out (Lift Pump on)? yes
2d] Loosen an injector line and crank the engine - does fuel come out? _________
2e] Do you hear a vacuum (hiss) when you remove the fuel cap? no

3] PMD / IP Issues
3a] Location of PMD (on pump, on intake, remote mounted) remote mounted, changed to new one when troubleshooting this issue
3b] Condition of Extension harness (if used) Vendor or Homemade? _________
3c] Condition of grounds / ground wires to IP / PMD. Check Harness. grounds seem to be fine
3d] PMD Make: not known
3e] PMD Age: New

4] Stalling Issues
4a] Do you experience stalling only when hot? Yes
4b] Does it stall under particular circumstances? (ie hit bump, or on accel) no
4c] Does pouring cool water over the IP seem to help with restarting? no
4d] Is stalling momentary (engine recovers)? engine recovers after awhile
4e] Does SES light come on when engine hiccups? yes I think so
4f] Does cruise control quit working when engine hiccups? yes, car totally shuts down
4g] Does re-starting seem to reset engine, restoring cruise and power? Not sure
4h] Changes to dash lights or instruments during stalling events? I have to wait until glow plug light is lit again after car has been stalled. After glow plug light is lit, then car starts normally (time varies)

5] Running Issues
5a] On cold start, does upper rad hose get hard before engine warms up? not known
5b] Any bubbles or oil film in coolant overflow tank? not known
5c] Any white slime on oil surfaces (dipstick, CDR, oil Fill cap)? not known
5d] Excessive white smoke from exhaust on cold start? no
5e] Excessive black smoke from exhaust under hard acceleration? no

6] Performance Issues
6a] Do you have gauges (boost, EGT) ? no
6b] Maximum boost under load? not known
6c] Have you added a performance PCM (reflash) or Chip? not known
6d] Have you changed exhaust / downpipe / crossover? not known
6e] Wastegate – mechanical or vacuum (OEM)? not known

7] Temperature-related Issues:
7a] Single or dual thermostats? not known
7b] Have you replaced them lately? Manufacturer of replacements? _________
7c] Have you pulled and cleaned Radiator and coolers lately? no
7d] Have you replaced the fan clutch? Manufacturer of replacement? not known
7e] (winter) Have you tested your antifreeze? Good to what temp? I have not run it in winter yet
7f] (winter) Are you using a winter grille cover? ___________

List and describe any other factors which are not addressed in this checklist. We can’t see, hear, smell, or touch your truck, so the more descriptive information you can give, the more likely it is that somebody can assist you.

Engine stalls from time to time in no particular event. Normally when it's hot outside and engine has been running for awhile. When engine shuts down, I have to wait random time to get it started again. Engine will start after glow plug light is lit again after awhile of waiting. Normally time to wait is about 10 minutes but sometimes it could take hours.

Any idea what to check next, I have changed all parts that I know could be causing this problem and getting little desparete...

my first thought was PMD but you said you changed it out so my next would be the OPS (oil pressure sending unit). on 94/95 it controls the lift pump and could be your issue. I'd do the OPS relay mod as well

I'll have to add,
LP could be running intermittend(clean grounds back of pass side head and check for broke in insulation wire), wich could cause stalling with some engines that have an IP's with a weak transfer pump.
A permanent In cab fuel pressure gauge is your friend here for fuel related diagnostic purposes.

A thourgh check of engine wire harnass, including all connectors up to the firewall is recommended( bare/broke wire or corroded connector pins.Including PMD connector.(PMD even though it is new is still a suspect)

Check the 2 leads on the fuel solenoid(back of IP) for tight.

Where is PMD mounted? Try eleminating the extension harness temporarily and pluging PMD into the short harness from IP. What brand is Ext harness?

Thanks guys for your replies!
PMD is mounted now about at the top of the fuce box, as far as possible from heat emitting components and still getting fresh air to it when driving.
I have never even thought of the Oil Pressure Switch, I will change that and check wiring again and get tell you how it went.

BTW welcome to TTS.
Sounds like a PMD problem. You have it mounted in a terrible location, get it out of the engine bay or just put it back on the IP. Sounds like its been damaged allready. Try the free stuff first, but I think you have a new PMD in your future.

What color are the wires in your extension harness? Did you try to bypass the ext harness yet?

I have already moved pdm away from the engine, about over the fuse box which is located top right corner under the hood. And yes it has a heatsink installed. The pdm is running really hot in my opinion though...
