Chain link fence removal

OK 3 hours of regen and the light was still blinking. Shut it down, reread instructions, made sure Parking break was on and started another regen. Went in to watch Happy Gilmore and came out after 1/2 hour and the regen alarm was beeping. Reset the regen and within about 10 seconds the engine rpms increased to 2200. A whole bunch of smoke started pouring out the exhaust for about 30 seconds before cleaning up. Engine continues at 2200 rpm. I’m assuming this is the real reagen that is supposed to happen.

The tractor was running low on fuel, so I had to leave it under my wife’s watch and run to fill a 5 gallon jug with diesel. Leaving wife watching anything mechanical is a scary thought. Anyway, when I got back my wife said it throttled back down shortly after I left. Sure enough, the regen light was cleared, so I’m good, but pretty much done for the day.

So thinking this through, they install a filter to trap the soot particles to save the planet. Then when the filter gets clogged, it does a regen cycle where it dumps a bunch of fuel to burn all the soot out, creating a large volume of smoke in the process. Convince me this is helping anything.

Easy: job security.

The idea fairies in the Government get to keep their jobs by creating new requirements for the engineers in industry to figure-out. And the engineers get to keep their jobs by fulfilling the idea fairies' requirements...

In theory though, if the engine was worked hard enough as part of regular operations, the system should not need to do a regen.

But I wanted to see it rolling coal. 🫣😹😹😹

Over all what it does is trap carbon in solid form. Eventually you will have to replace that part. The more advanced systems have the carbon compartment separate from the part of the catalyst that has all the rare metals so it is not insanely expensive to replace it. Still expensive, just not insanely expensive.

The white smoke you saw and all the fuel it burned for this process is an increase in pollution, but after converting and trapping what it does - the net result is supposed to be worth it emissions wise.
Economics wise almost all fleets are leaving diesel in favor of gasoline to avoid the loss in economics.

I am sure absolutely no one will recommend looking into doing a delete on the equipment but saving the components removed to be able to reinstall should proving it is all functional incase that need should ever occur. I am sure it as all rumors and lies that anyone does that anywhere to any truck or piece of equipment.

My son did the total delete on his dodge diesel truck.
It was a chore but his fuel mileage greatly increased and he dont have to burn more bladder juice.
That is for His off road competition use. Mainly in the snow racing. With that stuff removed his truck really kicks @ss when He gets into a competition with most any other diesel truck.
He most usually keeps it together until someone challenges him, usually bar room talk, then He brings it over and We do the dismantle for the next victim. 🤷😹😹😹
