Where do I put a Cobra 29 LTD in this...

On top on the dash maybe? I'm having the same problem trying to put one in wifeys car

The EASIEST way that I have found is to go to Auto Zone or Advance Auto and buy some Velcro strips and apply them to the "Top" of the radio and mount the radio on top of the dash like pictured below. The reason you put the strips on the "Top" of the radio is so that you mount it up side down to be able to hear the speaker. then put some kind of small folded rag under the front of it to eliminate the bouncing while on the road, it works surprisingly well... I have never had a problem and have been doing it like this for about ten years...

It also makes it easy to remove all traces of the mounting if you ever want to sell the truck...

Mine has been just laying on the floor for about 2 years now. Someday I'll mount ....wouldn't want to rush into anything. I want to fab something to keep in under the dash.

We got a smaller size CB crammed into that hole in my brother's truck. Took a bit of work removing plastic back in there though. On mine and dad's without the console they are just bolted to the little hole under the dash. Lot easier on ours.

My CB is mounted further back so it doesn't drive the passenger crazy, it fits great with just half of it pincehed in the seat. I am runnin the same unit though.

i'm getting ready to mount my farm two way radio in the bottom of those two cubby holes. i'll let you knwo how it goes.

Not familiar with the model 29, but here is my Cobra 18. Took a little 'whittling' of the plastic in the back but it fits like a glove.

That is clean I like it man.

Thanks - I'm no CB expert so I chose that model because it fit the hole and was mostly black. Also wanted the front-firing speaker so I wouldn't need a seperate one. It also has the WX channels which is a side benefit (for me anyway). The CB guy that tuned it said that it peaked well, FWIW.

I hang mine from the roof. my truck is a 94 though. Maybe a Shelf-It and mount it in there.

Thanks, Joe. A Dremel and a lot of patience does in fact pay off sometimes... :D

And... FYI, what's behind there is ugly!

Couple of things to point on on the antenna - the base antenna mount is from Merchant Automotive, and the antenna bayonet quick disconnect is from http://www.hamstick.com/ - the quick disconnect makes it a breeze to remove the antenna for a car wash, parking garage, or anything else that requires its removal. The antenna is a K40 top-load from Pilot (local truck stop). Makes for a good combination. The only other alternative I considered was a fold-over that would allow you to just push down and fold it over the windshield... but the remove option is even better, IMHO.
