Can't get a heater core for my CUCV ???

As Dave can tell you, it was friggin cold today and I had mine on the lowest setting with the window cracked.
Chinese POS junk=0
American made factory core=1
 
it was 24*F with whipping winds today while i was removing the heater box and core. Probably the same tomorrow during re-install. Supposed to get hammered with snow next week too, but I'll believe it when i see it.
 
I've got to find time to still do body mounts on the blazer at some point. Body mounts in the damn winter of all times? :suicide:

Almost got the blazer back together, but had too many other things keep coming up to get it done today. I'm down to hooking up the hoses and putting the fuel filter back on since i had to remove it to move that damn "shroud" that insulates the A/C box so i could get to the studs that hold the heaterbox to the firewall.

CUCV's don't have it. FWIW in the past I just took a sheetrock knife and cut it and put it back.
 
exactly what i did. Mine's a 2 piece cover now. If anything i'll silicone it back together at the cut. I really don't care that much since it doesn't fit 100% anyways with the "home made" inner fender on that side that was on the truck when purchased. I'll get it on correctly when i rip that fender out and put a new one it.
 
I cut every one I ever did with no issues. You'd have to have a screw loose to think that taking the entire barrier off would be feasable...:D
 
Well, tow major cold snowstorms later and I can plow in 0 deg weather with wind with the heat on low and the window open. I am seriuos the heater will blow you out of the cab.

Mines not that great, but the air is certainly hot. I think it's because there is so much un-insulated space in my blazer that the heat never really fills the cab. It works great when i switch if from "heat" to "vent" every so often to spread the heat around.

Sounds like my '83. Once my little 400 gets warmed up that thing will drive me out of the cab.

Flexolite makes a rear heater for about 200$. it is exactly the same one the burbs of that era came factory with. Course if you can find a functional one from an old burb, that would work too. I plan on buying the flexolite one for my Burb. Same problem.

It doesn't help that the engine runs strangely cool(175-180*F), even with the winter front on, and a brand new and functioning t-stat(the temp does come up to operating spec but then drops down to ~175*F when the stat opens).

Interesting on the rear heater. I'd just have to run coolant lines for something like that. Isn't it roof mounted though? Would that work on a blazer with the fiberglass removable top?
 
No, floor mounted. If I can find the link I'll post it. 180 is normal oper temp. My CUCV and my old burb ran 180 and the heat cranked like no tommorow. My 98 burb is not as good. Takes longer.
 
Here ya go. This is almost identical to what the OBS Burbs had. In fact I wold not be surprised if the factory ones were made by Flexolite. As you can see it won't interfere with the top coming off. it mounts behind the rear seat on the r\s(Factory anyway, suppose you could mount it whereever you want.)
