Camo Wrap...Honest opinions needed

Tim...one of the manufacturers is located here in Slidell...I'm going to go tour the place soon and ask a bunch of questions see if I can get a direct discount if I like the product...

Let me know what your schedule is...maybe you'd like to make the trip?

will do Paul, week after next I'll be home for a week, taking vacation son is out for Mardi Gras, trying to get his truck finished we overhauled the engine in Oct, but haven't had a chance to finish the install on it yet.

May also try to fit in one day at least for Suncoast, I'd like to dyno the truck with the ATT, can I say that here

The black wheels are a good idea and yes they'd really pop on your truck.

I've always liked the pewter/silver birch trucks... they look clean all the time and don't show dirt like the darker colors do. They seem to look the best with color matched moulding and trim compared to other colors from what I've seen. IMO it also makes them look bigger. I had wanted an OBS CCLB 2500 in pewter back in the 90's for the longest time before I bought the white dually in 02.

Pepp,

The wrap says "Mossy Oak" and he got it at Trim-Line inc here in Reno.

Thats them, except he used the place on Kietzke Lane. He's madder than hell about his install too...

X2 On the BuckStop Bumper!!! It's what I run Very High quality no cutting or mods, bolts right on.

What an awesome paintjob my friend. How is that done?
Camo wrap...3m vinyl digitally printed with a laminate over the design... then applied to the vehicle...5 yr. warranty but should get three out of it...installers tell me if you take serious care of it you may get to the 5 years...

Wow, fixes (hides) alot of imperfections and lasts 3 years. after that I assume you could re-apply? How much is something like this?

complete vehicle (just the wrap) runs around $800 - $1100 depending on the amount of wrap/size of vehicle...Labor will run market price...around here $400-$600

I understand wanting to hide imperfections...but from what I'm told imperfections(rust holes etc.) will compromise the adhering and will cause it to fail sooner...

but the true weak point is the edges...it's not made to be a permanent wrap and the edges will be the first to start peeling...

If brand name camo patterns are what you are looking for than from what I've found you are stuck with 3M brand which isn't the best vinyl...

Oracal makes the best wrap but from what I've found no dealer (or oracal) has stepped up to the plate and paid the license fee's to use the big brands...

but an Oracal wrap will last 7-9 years depending on the material you choose if cared for properly...google Oracal and Camo wrap and you will find some of the patterns they have available...whats out there is not that great...but if you do find one you like... It will last longer...

Thanx

I love it!! And It was cheaper than a paint job at 1,100 bucks. secondly I Installed it myself, took about a week. Only because I removed all the molding, trim, door handles, rear windows & emblem. Then i sanded each surface with 400 grit sand paper on a DA, cleaned with reducer and then wash & wax remover (Prep All). then applied.

This is the CamoClad version of wrap and so far it's very durable.

I've looked at most all of them... all the wraps using "brand name" camo patterns use the lesser quality 3M vinyl...Camo Clad...Camo Wraps...all 3M...

For that kind of money 3-5 years isn't enough...as I've researched... Oracal will last 7-9 yrs...just no brand name camo patterns available:(

so it looks to me that unless I magically find an Oracal distributor that does a brand name camo soon, then paint will be the way I will go...

1twisted1 can you post some pictures so we can have a better look at how the final outcome turned out? I'm interested in doing something to mine to, I just don't know what yet.:smile5:

Wow! Great looking burb! Love that pattern too.

Pepp, I like the camo on some trucks...it depends. Not so sure it'd look good on the pewter though. It'd be nice to see some pictures of trucks your color first.

I like the '03+ gmc front end style too. I don't care for the removal of the gap filler.....makes it look like a half ton. :2cents:
Good luck getting the new bumper on...it will be worth it.

I also agree on the new wheels...as you can tell I like the wider stance too.
