Bypass oil filter kit for 96-2000 trucks

In the video you mentioned your looking for a mounting spot on the older models, what about on the firewall?

I'll need a place so that the oil that escapes during a change will be easily handled.
 
Leroy, two things. First, could it be possible to make some kinda L bracket and mount it under the drivers side battery? Second, do you think there would be enough pressure, if by-pass set up was mounted down low on frame, to push oil back up to oil tube?

Also, wasn't that a centrifuge type filter on your pass side?
 
That's where I put my Oilguard Bypass Filter about 100,000 miles ago and I think the location is great. The only bitch is that the power steering fluid is a little tougher to check but not that big of a deal. I heard that the Amsoil Bypass kits are very nice as well.

Anything can be done as long as there is room, hose lengths would change also. There would be enough pressure to return oil from that spot too.
You did see a centrifuge! Thats my bypass filter for this truck. I did a write up on it and still have a few of those kits left also.
 
OK, Im going to introduce this kit at $210 + shipping. In the states shipping should be $15ish (my web sites shipping calculator figures that out). Complete kit you don't need anything else (except teflon tape).
If you compair to other kits out there you would see mine is a very good value. As other kit don't include the filter and you still might need some misc fittings...ect.
 
Looks good, and your price is half of Filtration Solution's FS2500. Now about the cost of replacement filters and what is your recommendation on change interval for the bypass filter, and does the filter base have a bypass built into it in event the filter plugs up?

It is a very good price when you compair to others and whats actually included.

$41.40 for replacement element. (Cheaper if I sign you up with an Amsoil account)

Filter base does not have a bypass, but you don't need one. If hypotheticaly the filter pluged up whats going to happen? nothing as it is only filtering bypassed oil. You retain your full flow (stock filter). Your gauge will still work and might even alert you to a filter that needs changed?? not sure about that in real world, but if pressures are reading higher than normal it would indicate a filter change.
 
After I posted I thought it over and realized what you stated about the bypass. Sorry, my oldheimers! Now to save up the money, as I've always wanted to put a bypass on, but found the price of an FS2500 to be just too high to justify. Looks like yours is the way I'll go. Keep us informed on the 4BD swap and future mods to it.
 
That's where I mounted the bypass on the 1996 Suburban. Mine is a little different plumbing wise. Must be mounted just a tad different as I have plenty of room to access the power steering even with the big filter

Mine is alittle tighter space wise. I have my WVO (blue) hoses right in the same area. Without those its not bad.
 
Nice kit! I would buy one when you get a kit for early 6.5's.

My bypass kit (amsoil dual filter) cost and arm and a leg and I had to buy the filters, odd angle fittings, 4x4 bracket, and extra line separate. I like that you used stainless braided line instead of the cloth line amsoil provides, MUCH BETTER QUALITY!
 
For one of my vehicles I made a bracket out of aluminum and mouted it to the drivers side battery box. On a couple of vehicles I mounted the Bypass filter horizontally on the drivers side fender right behind the battery
