Boost Position Sensor

I am not having a lot of luck with the search function, so please excuse me if this is an old topic. My 06 Chevy LBZ is showing the code for a boost position sensor and I have two questions. First, the book says that the cause of the problem might be gunk on the sensor. Has anyone had luck with just cleaning the plunger on the sensor? If not, where is the best place to buy a replacement?

Thanks,

Doc

I had the same problem with mine... cleaning it did nothing as there wasn't a lot of soot on the plunger. Crow's foot is helpful but not necessary to change it.

The sensor has an analog-digital converter built into the wire harness IIRC. Not sure if the sensor or the circuit board went bad. It was freakin expensive back then too.

I forgot about that thread from Grady.

As always, this forum is run for diesel enthusiasts by diesel enthusiasts. Members helping members. :) That's what it is all about.

OK, I changed the sensor and rest the codes. After three days and about 300 miles the check engine light is back on with the same code. The truck runs fine, no power loss etc. Anyone have an idea as to what I should try next?

Thanks,

Doc

When I replaced the sensor, I went through the re-learn procedure. Everything was fine for three days, then the light came on again. All along, the light has been intermittent. It will stay on for a couple of days and then go out. Then it comes back on a few days later. It is always the same two codes, boost position sensor and boost position not learned. I am at a loss as to what to do next.

Could be time for a reflash on the ecm. If you're gonna do that then might as well go EFI and be done with it.
