Bone head thermostat question

My 6.5 rebuild includes a duel therm upgrade. My question is do the rubber o rings go below or on top of the thermostats? Also do I use RTV for a gasket?

iirc the rubber goes over the "lip" of the stats so its on both sides (I think but its been awhile). It then will kind of hold the stats in place to help ease assembly.

No RTV or gasket etc needed if the rubber material is used correctly.

There's a little slot on the ID of the seal. The thermostat fits into that slot w/ the seal going around the thermostat's perimeter.

That seems to be the way for t-stat. I have just replaced one in my Camry.

So I guess, it is similar.
