Body lift on 95 6.5TD Suburban

Good to hear it works with a fan. Not a ton of time in modding to fit it there, but hate to waste work time, if it doesn't pan out. Figured the fan would be necessary in that location as I'm adding the stock black air dam to hide frame exposure. My thinking in putting it there is, there might still be a little more free airflow in this location going down the road, as compared to locating it somewhere under the truck. As my truck is original '95 929 block, it has no piston oil squirters or the 5/8" oil cooler flow path, so there's probably some limit to how much heat can be removed with the oil cooler anyhow.

For this relocation, I'm finally getting around to putting in an oil thermostat that will shunt oil flow back to block until oil temps go above 160 degrees. Should help let oil to get up to good operating temps & stay warm enough in below zero temps when the truck's unloaded & just loafing down the road.

As you've done this body lift/bumper raise also, I think I can fit a chunck of maybe 2x4" tubing spool into the front frame (beside the bumper bracket bolts) to relocate the stock tow hooks up 3" so they'll look stock & still be strong enough to be used. Will get pics & dimensions of tubing used, if that pans out.

As this thread discussed the 3500HD core support, thought I'd add a few pics showing the relative fan/core support/shrouds alignment with a 3" body lift: stock core support - vs - 3500HD core support that I'm modifying extensively to fit the intercooler.

Not certain yet if using the stock shroud will work out, but using the 3500HD core support can definitely improve the vertical alignment of the rad/IC stack & fan/shroud.
Excellent!
