I took a three hour trip this weekend and noticed my rear window got darker the farther i went. when i got there i looked at it and wiped it with my finger and it was a dry soot likr dowder so i looked at my tailpipe and it really isnt any more sooty then normal. I had just put in the GL4 a few pays before you think it is coming from my tailpipe or from under the truck? i do have some oil leaks that drip on to the crossover, you think it burns off into soot on the rear? I still have my stock chip maybe i should put it back in and try it what do you guys think?

This was all on diesel. I have not emailed bill yet. I have a turbo master set at 10-12 but this was on the highway so it would never see max boost any way. I don't have it set at 14-15 cause of my tired motor.

Don't suppose you ticked off or tried to race a hopped up cummins did ya:rofl:

Defiantly email bill about it. And while waiting on a response from him switch back to the stock chip, go for a drive and recheck. Could be that someone may have goofed on the programing in the chip. All it takes is one number to many and you could be running a bit richer than necessary.

I'd give it a little more on the TM.... I don't really think a boost or 2 will break your engine. You need to be where he tells you or you may be getting more fuel than air to burn.

You have a newly found lead foot?

:iagree:
Use your mirror to check for soot coming out of the tail pipe. Oil leaks will wind up on the back of the vehicle as well. Burned off the exhaust or not.

14 PSI sustained boost is ok per Heath. Just don't let the engine get over 215, ask me how I know...

12 psi max sustained boost with my GL4 resulted in soot all over the tailgate.

Cranked the T/M up to 15 psi and the soot was much less, but there's still a light haze at WOT.

What are you running for max sustained boost?

King of blow by? If it hasn’t blown out your valve cover gaskets you are not even on the hill… :D

The engine condition of poor compression due to blow by will cause more smoke and oil use… Winding up as soot from the exhaust. Hot rodding an engine that is in poor shape is not a good idea.
