Finally put the 2nd to last touch on the rear before its 100%. All that leaves is air bags for load leveling purposes and she'll be set. A few Pictures:

Photobucket isn't working for some reason right now So I'll just load them onto the forum
:mad2:

The stock shocks use some kind of "mid-piece" before it bolts to the frame unlike how its just one large bolt on the axle. After wasting a day trying to find out where I can get ahold of this piece and having no luck I finally said screw it and made my own:

Ive got a brand new set of air bags and on board compressor if your interested shoot me a pm...

What valving did you get on the shocks? Great idea on the shock mounts.
I had the same issue with the rear shocks, I pressed the mount out of the old shock and pressed it into the new one. I did find out the parts are available from bilstien but like you I couldn't wait.

I got the highest valving. IE-stiffer ride in the rear. The ride isn't half bad with them, but it rides a little rough on bumpy terrain unless I have some weight in the bed. But then again its not some lifted Ford just for show, it certainly gets worked. I had tried to press that stupid mount out of the shock but it wouldn't budge:eek: Even tried drilling out the rubber to try and help it but you know as well as I do how the factory rubber practically welds itself to anything metal. Probably one of the biggest PITA's of the axle swap / leveling out the rear.

I was talked into the softer valving and while the rear is fine the front sucks, way to soft. At this point i don't care as I am working on a 3 link with track bar set up and some coil overs.

you bastard:D

Maybe sometime in the future I'll find that Dana 60 front axle I want and build it up to take the place of the Dana 44HD. Then look into a 3 link setup like your doing. I even considered fabricating an air ride suspension for the front and rear. But with those new leaf springs I'm good for a llllllooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg time. Damn high quality Alcan's

Speaking of which, how did you level out your rear after the swap? Blocks or new springs?

How are the Atlas springs treating you? They where up there with my choices along with Deaver for who I wanted my rear leafs to come from.

I have no issue's with them. They flex well and have not sagged at all. I was going with them or deaver and used them based off ORU's owner who recommended them.
