Auto Meter Gauges

I'm curious about how your pod will set after you install it. My pod angles the face of the gauge too high. If they were angled down just a bit the gauges would be easier to read with just a quick glance.

Don

Don,
If I had my seat set low in the truck I could see your problem. My front drivers seat is power and I have it set up high.

Hope this helps!

I also have the power seat, probably the same as yours. It is set as high as it will go. I also have an extra, horseshoe shaped, foam cushion to pamper my abused tailbone.

The top gauge is the worst one for angle. I can read it, but the lower edge of the gauge obscures part of the markings there.

I agree, the top gauge makes you earn the view of it.

you guys do realize this is ripe for a smart alec comment LOL

Bring'em! :D

gonna get a little chilly tonight. just my luck, i'm off the next 2 days. i had to work in this warm weather instead of working on the truck.

Looks great man! Where did you order the guages and pillar pods from? Def planning to be adding some guages to my '94 soon after I pay it off.

I ordered the gauges and pillar from egauges. They were the cheapest, I shopped around for a couple of months. There was a guy on fleebay that was cheaper for the gauges but his shipping killed the low price.

I got the boost bolt and fuel pressure tap from PMDCable. These really made the install simple, I highly recommend them.

All the wire, brass fittings, paint, and other crap came from O'Reilly's. It is the closest auto parts store to my house.

Hope this helps!

It def does help a lot! ugh.come on the 16th already so i can get my freakin truck! lol

I got my pillar pod from Glowshift. The fit was hinky at first but found it was from it sitting in the shipping box for too long. Kind of twisted it. I hit it with the wifes hair dryer(when she was gone from the house) for a few minutes and it went back into shape quickly. I put the trans temp, egt and boost on the pillar. GS makes a dash top pod and I plan on one of those with fuel pressure, dif temp and volt or amp in it. I left the pillar black but will have to paint the dash. The black is not seen with the blue interier but the dash will be seen. As for the guages, I'll have to find something other than the Sunpro ones I used as they don't have a fuel pressure under 100psi.

Ordered the gauge mount for the overhead console on Monday. It was delivered tonight by the man in brown.

It is quite simple. Just a chunk of aluminum with two holes, 4 screw holes and milled down to size.

Know I just got to figure out what color I want to paint it.

I was thinking flat black or use some of my red paint I have left over.

Here is what it looks like.

I ordered more stuff tonight. So, more to follow!

Today I went and pulled down the center console. I removed the black plastic piece that is mounted in there.
It is only held in place by four plastic catches. Here is what it looks like.

Here is what it looks like with the gauge mount sitting in place. It will be held in place by two screws that came with it.

After seeing it mounted there I think I will go with the red paint I painted the pillar with.

This post here is my 4,000 post!

Looks awesome marty!

I installed the same overhead console as you with the filler plate for exactly the reason of being able to add guages. I had planned on making a mounting plate when I got that far, but the one you purchased looks nice. Where the heck did you find that guage plate??

I like that. Too bad my over head is filled with power for the GPS and camera monitor. That and I think it was too small for the placement of guages when I was looking. I'm going to mount my extra guages in a dash top mounted pod.

With all the extra guages, the monitor for back up camera, GPS and all the switches, the wife thinks it's looking like a 747 cockpit.:cornut:

Dakota Digital makes them. Only place I have found that makes them. I will find out next week if they will fit with the gauges I purchased.

I got my gauges in today! :hihi:

I placed them in the overhead console to see how they are going to look.

Here is a crappy picture of how it looks mounted up in the truck, held up with my hand.

Looks like it will work out great!

Know I need to order up some fluid for the rear end and trans. That darn NV4500 fluid is outrageously expensive.

Looks great!!! What did the console come out of? I have a feeling i'm gonna be adding many of the same gauges as you did just in a different series such as the sport comps or ultra comps..haven't decided on that part just yet, One can never have too much info as to what the heck is going on under the hood!

The console came in my truck from the factory. They can be had at most wrecking yards for around $20 or less.

They came in Chevrolet/GMC trucks, suburbans, and tahoes.

The chunk of aluminum that actually holds the gauges came from dakota digital.

I agree, I want to know what is going on with my truck from all angles.
