ATT update

Maybe this weekend isnt that bad since rain is going to kill all my plans anyway. Worcester is about 45 mins from me so you guys pick a place if you want. I'd really like to see his setup first hand. What would also be nice is a simplified thread on the ATT with strictly Towing, temp egt iat data. Anybody do any seriuos towing yet ?

Leo was pulling some big weight not that long ago... of course, it's flat as Goldie Hawn where he lives...

LOL.... Like mother like daughter....

I've read plenty of heavy towing results, all report lower EGT's, and better MPG by a few... Not sure on recorded data...

Flat is relative, Dolly is flat now when you see old pics. of her:eek:
4% slope to me is a mountain:D

Oregon Horse Tug tows heavy and through steep grades, He would be the person towing the heavy loads up the steepest grades in the states. I have towed a combined truck and trailer load weighing a little over 28,000 pounds through most of Michigan. Up 75 and through the back roads and had no problems keeping the speed limit or above or climbing any hills. There is a picture in my garage of the load.

ATT and the new GLE-S

We were all set for a horse trip this weekend and now it looks like we're getting rained out. I've had the new GLE-S for a week now and it's the icing on the ATT cake. I was looking forward to getting some good data over the mountains (Mt Hood, 4000' pass from sea level) at about 18k combined. On a lighter note, running empty from Tacoma to Portland yesterday I clocked over 22mpg at 65-70 mph. 22+ mpg with 4.10s and 4wd at 70! That's info from the scan gauge, yet to be confirmed by fill up and that's freeway cruise empty with very little hills, but, wow.

Last weekend I was at about 17k for 40 miles running up and down some small hills, some mostly flat freeway, some park roads (slow steep hills). There seems to be no more babysetting the truck with a load. On the freeway I actually found myself having to slow down .

Gotta say I went straight to the new GLE-S from the stock PCM so I can't say exactly what the difference is between the GLE and -S other than it's tweaked for the ATT. I do know that, again, I have a whole new truck. This is what these should have been from the factory. With this kind of mileage I think I can sell my Suzuki Swift and just drive the truck :D.

So Heath got his ATT installed>?

No not yet,

OHT took his ATT equipped truck to Bill, they did some tweaking on it, through discussions Bill and I have had plus data I've shared, and data he got from others, he got a inkling of what might need to be done to match the program to way the ATT works, I think with his experiences from a big turbo/Peninsular turbo knew of a possible tweak that ATT could benefit from now.

BTW Bill has my TD07 Mitsubishi, not a ATT but TD07 was the genesis of this project, so slight difference there once Bill gets it installed

Here's the data I pulled on my last trip. For those of you familiar with interstates in VA it was almost to the top of Afton Mountain. Visibility and road conditions sucked that evening. Best trip up Afton I've made with the truck.

Had between 500-1000lbs in the back.

Stock ECM

Had intended to take a couple more readings but had a R.F. tire decide it wanted to go flat on me in the rain in the middle of the second one and after I got it changed it was late and I didn't really feel like messing with it any more.

Did you make that chart or is it from AE or something ? I liked seeing IATs at 189. Your truck may run cooler anyway though with a handshaker.

I took the chart TD posted and made up a spreadsheet. Took a snap shot with the Snap On scanner. Got off the interstate at the next exit and entered the data. Then printed to a PDF file.

Well, this tank's running 'round didn't show tremendous gains on fillup after all. Maybe got a high fill and previous was light, here in Oregon we don't fill our own tanks so it's inconsistent. 17.6 mpg after correction for tire size. Included 160 miles on freeway at 65-70, 100 miles around town with a number of cold starts, and 200 miles today running around 2 lane roads and gravel logging roads looking at horse camps. Guess my scangauge wasn't too good on the all around mpg calc. I'll post more data after a pulling run.

The way to eliminate that error, is to start at a round 1000 milemarker. Then everytime you fill up, add the gallons added, plus the new miles. That way you're not taking in the error at the pump. I can pump up to 4 gallons really fast. Then I have to pump, and wait for all the air to purge. I can usually squeeze in another 4 gallons slowly... At full serve, they pump till click, and try topping off, but thats it. So 3-4 gallons can be easily missed, then caught on the next pump, making that mileage seem poor.

Also, don't forget, thats still better mileage than a 1/2ton gasser toyota pickup, so be happy. Plus stretching her legs out does nothing much more than have fun seat of pants, and ruin mileage.

My truck, almost unmodded (soon to change) but with Turbo Master gets about 16 highway, 12ish city/warmup/idling....

Also easy to correect Speedo/Odo via VSSB, I had a recent thread on it. I recommend doing it. It's nice to have that accurate.

New batch

New batch of turbos are being readied, those of you that are on the list will be getting a PM when yours is ready.
