I'm embarrassed to say: My wife is absolutely freaking out with this Ebola break out. She just knows your going to bring it to Houston :nonod: She is a nurse and a germaphobe. Not a good combo for her, but good for her patient's. The fact that nurse in Dallas came down with Ebola does not help my wife's case at all!!
Seriously we may have to reschedule just so I can keep the piece and my sanity around here.
Lets see how this news plays out over next couple weeks. If it all calms down then we can proceed. If more people start getting Ebola I can say for sure wrenching won't happen soon.
Ah no! I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. Well, please know this- I don't actually live in Dallas for what it's worth. For anonymizing and security purposes, I always just put that as it's the closest city to where I actually am (I'll send you an E-mail showing the distances). I live with my family and work out in the north suburbs. I'm a healthy IT engineer- no affiliation with any hospital or medical personnel or even any pending doctor's appointments! I keep to myself, as does my family- no mass gatherings lately, or any questionable side jobs as a janitor or waste disposal collection agent. I spend my free time with my young boys (not in school yet) and wife, wrenching and working on house projects, and not volunteering at a hospital as a comedian entertainer or anything.
But that's just to allay the paranoia permeating around- it's a bunch of hype really. The media is loving it around here, and is all too happy to grab our eyeballs for ratings and commercial viewing however they can. When you really get down to it, Dallas proper (not where I live) has a population of 1.3 million folks. Two have come down with Ebola so far, and another several dozen are 'under watch'. They're all nurses, family thereof, relatives of the patients, and others directly related with the hospital I believe. Regular outbreaks of the flu and pneumonia are magnitudes greater, can be nearly as lethal, but don't get near the coverage. And the flu is airborne! Ebola is not. It is NOT wafting in the air more than a few feet around any one infected person, at best. Notice that hospital (Texas Presbyterian) is actually still open as usual with staff and patients! Nobody has had to evacuate or shut anything down. So, seeing as how I do not come into contact with anyone's bodily fluids but my own (errr), no worries.
Sorry to go further off-topic- I hope it may save my reservation here at least for Mrs. Leroy's sake... I won't object if I have to stay on the driveway while I'm there.
