ATT 6.5 Fuel Mileage Hit with AC on

You used to be able to rebuild those. I have the tools but good luck getting the parts in todays throw away world. I even have the bench stand for those.

Topped off today as I usually do for the weekends, just a day late. 139 miles, 7.1 Gal, 19.57mpg.:agreed: Mixed driving in city and short commutes to work etc, no freeway, no AC.

Not sure if this this belongs on another thread or not but there it is. Suddenly it is like the summer fuel gods have heard my petition:D...sorry, that DOES belong on another thread:rof:

i bet you were just driving easier. lol

installed the ATT last week after removing the GM3, and was able to keep mileage at a constant, around 66. drove a total of 614 miles on a tank, no A/C. figured i'm getting 18.6 w/ the GV and the ATT. this is w/ 4.10 ratio. feels like i need to dial in the IP a little better though. don't know if that will affect mileage or not.

Actually not so much this last tank. I accelerate authoritatively from the lights, not hammering it to keep the smoke down but not crawling away with the Prius' either. There are seven lights over the 10 miles between work and the house and the lights were reportedly synchronized to improve traffic flow. Which means, in reality, I hit 6 of them red. The previous tank where I saw 19.3mpg I was just motoring down the Freeway. Got to say, this last one really surprised me.
I'll be driving out to Kentucky/TN and then up to Naperville the week of the 16th (July). Will get together with Mike and would enjoy meeting you too. St. Charles is right on the way to Sycamore IL.

With 4:10s and 1800rpm able to push you down the road at 66mph, that is quite good.
I know 635 rolls 62mph with his 3500 dually (auto), WMI and is able to gets consistently over 20mpg. He wants to swap in a Gear Vendor OD unit too.
I'm thinking up upgrading to WMI as well. I've got a 9gal water tank to use for now, won't be enough for long hauls though.

I've rode with Paul he's a typical city driver. Acts like he's in a hurry to get somewhere. I did enjoy the ride Paul.

Guilty but I'm working on it. Glad you enjoyed the ride. By the by, I saw OrionThade yesterday. He's almost there with the motor, just a couple more things to do and it'll go in.

I'm not sure I could point out any difference with a/c or defroster running. The bad thing (really a good thing) is that a tank last so much longer now, it averages out the mornings with defrost and the afternoons with a/c running over a tank. We've been cooler this summer and haven't seen the sun much, but I know I've used it quite a bit within one or two tanks. The other thing in the mix for me is that I'll be towing with a/c, so... which is the cause or how much to either? One thing is for sure, I can run a/c ANY time towing, not the case prior to ATT and Kennedy exhaust. I run the a/c whenever I want to, and I tow however fast I want to or need to, and certainly I run the defroster when needed, winter or summer fog and we've been quite wet up here, just in case you haven't seen the news lately. Anyway... in God we trust... all others bring your data....

This truck was a 14.5 mpg year-around rig before the ATT & mods.

How the heck can I stick a spreadsheet or pdf file in here? I'm looking around for how to info...

Road trip to Tacoma Washington and back is done. Ran most of the trip without A/C and cruise set to 70 mph with occasional pushes to get around trucks with faster traffic coming up behind. For once, there was no head wind heading out and only a few areas with slight tail / cross winds on the way back. Except for the tank where I had way too much fun running up the passes out of Yakima to Ellensburg and then up and over the Olympia range to Tacoma, I saw 18.6 to 19.8 mpg. I did have the computer re-tuned at Bill's and the truck really likes the subtle changes made that produce a much more responsive throttle and the 50 to 60 mph 'dead zone' for gradual acceleration is gone. At lower elevations, there is a lot less smoke too but I'm afraid this thing is going to continue to have "altitude sickness." I'll run the truck as configured through the summer and definitely on the trip out to Chicago and Missouri to see Mike (BtFarm) and company. Will see what the slower cruising speed and A/C does. I tried running with A/C today for a final leg but without the wind noise the truck is too quiet and with my lack of sleep these past few nights I was dropping out. So I rolled them down again.

Rolling up out of Salt Lake over the passes through Grand Junction and stopped in Rifle CO (staying at the "Ima Rusty Canon Inn" - how fun is that?). Ran 65-70 with the A/C on, about a thousand pounds of stuff in the back and stopped to help some folks and leaving the truck idling for half an hour or so. 18.5 mpg. Slow and steady wins the race. Thanks for input guys.
