I've heard a few stories about these.

1.I've read online they can't be replaced and you have to buy a whole new factory a-arm. If that were the case I'd opt for the Cognito UCA's instead.

2.I've read of people pressing new ones in and them falling out.

3.I've read that people have welded new ones in. :sosp:

Anyone know if the ball joints are replaceable or if you have to get a whole new upper arm? I was putting in torsion keys tonight and saw one of the boots was leaking grease. I'll have to do them sometime in the future.

Looking at Moog's picture of them, I'd say they're replaceable. I came up with K6696 as the Moog replacement part.

Pic isn't working for me. Does anyone know if you can just get new boots for the ball joints? I haven't checked to see if the joint is actually bad...probably just the boot at this point.

Well I'm interested here too. What I do know is that when I had my '05 LLY in for some warrantee work, the tech noticed one of the boots was missing on the upper. He couldn't order a boot. They had to replace the whole A arm.

I'm curious too...there's something going on in my front end ...
Yeah me too Pepp. Pretty sure I've got at least one bad tie rod end but haven't looked real close yet. Got a pretty serious front end shake at certain speeds. I do know it's not the hubs...one new and the other is tight.

Same thing for the stupid tie-rods. My boot is ripped but I couldn't find a new one anywhere. You have to buy a whole new tie-rod which is $60+ from the dealer.

The moog I got has splines to keep it in place and a snap ring to keep it in. It required the press to put it in, so it fits pretty tight. I welded it in anyway just to be sure because I am hard on shit.

thanks for that info El Presidente'

Whats the cost to replace the UCA instead?

if not more than $50-$100 I would just replace the whole thing...

Does the cognito kit come with control arms?

might have to consider doing that...but not sure if that would interfere with drag racing...I still have to fix it one way or another so I can start racing again...

I've been told the factory uppers are $200 each. The cognito's are $460 a pair and they are re-angled for cranked t-bars. Here's more info..their website won't let me copy and paste - http://www.norcaltruck.com/shop/pro...d=239&osCsid=c242e141a587c2d5f6776438cbd6b594

I was thinking at least 200 if you went to a dealer. The moog ball joint was 50$ or so I think, it was a couple years ago. You might recall those pictures of hauling my truck out of the field with my tractor... Putting it in takes under 20 minutes if you have a press. I would say most people will be safe with the press fit and the snap ring, I only welded it because I go for overkill and things get beat up on the farm.
