Anybody have any experience with Jasper rebuilt 6.5s?

Until I get mine torn down I won't know if I need a new motor or not.

My Snap-on dealer is selling an old van of his. Motor has about 12,000 miles auto tranny slightly more. Replaced the tranny then the motor went then a short time later the guy that was driving that truck for my dealer quit.

He is asking $6000 for the truck. I'd keep the motor and either sell or part out the remainder.

I personally have no experence with their engines. I did buy one of their junk trannys. They would not stand behind it. I have a friend that is a pro mechanic that has installed their engines. They quit using them because of the low quality and problems.

Interesting. One of our advisory committee members has been installing their engines and trannies for years. Couple of years ago, he was invited to tour their reman facility in Jasper, Indiana. He came away really impressed with the setup - serious investment in equipment, training and quality. If you want to check it out for yourself, go to jasper engines dot com.

No personal experience, but a good friend has been using a Jasper tranny behind his Cummins. Of course, he keeps blowing them up because he's got his Cummins turned way up and the tranny is simply a even replacement for the stock one. But, Jasper keeps sending him new tranny's!

My transmission was a 4l60[700r4]. It had low hydraulic pressure in all phases of the tests They claimed there was nothing wrong with it. It would not shift out of low gear untill 3000 rpm. It would slip excessivly if you towed anything. A waist of $2000. Their customer service talked the talk but wouldn't do a thing. they stuck me fo a bill at the stealer to get it checked.Maybe their policies have changed since then.
My mechanic friend said that they recieved several engines with broken bolts left in them and other quality control issues. Customers don't like to wait a extra week or more to get a replacement. It also makes them wonder what kind of quality is inside when the obvious things on the outside are missed. All the top shelf equipment doesn't make the engine. The people running them does. I woud go with a local builder that you can really check referances on. Word of mouth is better than any printed propaganda.
