Just noticed that a popular auction site now offers new body style towing mirrors that are a direct bolt on for our body style. Is any body using them, and if so can you provide feedback? I posted a picture of the mirror I'm talking about below.

I was wondering when someone would figure this out. (not a jab at the OP, I had a hunch this was doable and am not surprised to see them up for sale now) Though if you look at the pictures in their ad, they don't fit the door at all. Looks like GMT-800 mirrors on GMT-400 doors.

From my perspective the mirrors are friggen awesome. Great visibility.

I got these on amazon a couple years ago for $250

ITEM # 70000

The Cipa 7000 mirrors are a little different from what I posted. I had the Cipa mirrors on a different truck, but didn't care for the looks (reminded me of mickey mouse ears). They had much improved visibility over stock , but just didn't suit the look I wanted. The ones I'm referring to above actually look like the factory NBS mirrors.

people talk about big ears when talking about the cipia mirrors but then will turn right around and use the dodge mirrors. I think the dodge mirrors are big eared

Those mirrors the OP posted are kinda' stylish looking...I don't know what the Cipa mirrors look like, but as far as "Dumbo Ears" just imagine having those "West Coast" mirrors attached to your door....Besides looking like the "Dumbo Mobile," they are attached with about 34 different pole braces (Talk about Overkill!) and bolts going thru your door.

I have a set that came stock on my Ford and they look horrible, not to mention if you get them hung up on something...You're gonna' wreck the mirrors, pole braces and your door, where the bolts are attached. Even if you take them off and replace them with something else, you're still stuck with the holes in the doors where the "Pole Braces" are connected!

2 Cents.

Don't get your hopes up or let anyone fool you. I checked out the recently listings for this style mirror and they aren't anything different from a GMT800 mirror, they are just listing them for GMT400 trucks. The bases are still the same and are still too large to fit correctly onto GMT400 trucks.

Case in point, the listings either have no pictures of them on a truck, pictures of them on GMT800 or GMT900 trucks, or something like this.... that shows the GMT800 base bolted to the GMT400 door, and how it doesn't even fit correctly.

So, don't rush out and buy any, unless the seller can prove they are the correct base.

Thats what I was afraid of....darn it anyways, I really like the looks of those mirrors !

I really want to upgrade my mirrors. I liked the dodge flip out one, but they look huge in pics. Wish i could see it in person. But i really like the look of the double post newer style towing mirrors on GM. Still cant decide. The dodges are a little cheaper, but the GM's come with heat in their manual model. The CIPA mirrors are oblonged a little too much for me, but they are prolly perfect for towing. Which i dont do much of anyway, its all for looks. Plus my stockers are getting siezed up and mirror is rattleing on the pass. side..

I've got the Cipa's, they work except they don't fold flat against the doors for tight parking spots. They actually fold FORWARD to the fender and I think that was a really dumb idea.
The later version shown by the OP would be nicer since they have a better blind spot mirror. When I ordered my Cipa's from ebay the blind spot mirrors I ordered with them were both broken.
(the picture in my sig still had the stock mirrors)

Well, it's not in person but here's a pic of when I was halfway through my install with one dodge mirror and one stock mirror to give you a better sense of scale:

I love 'em!

The stock mirrors can't even hold a candle to the rear vis they afford the driver. Even in the "down" position.

Not even close....

I loved the mirrors on my 04 Cummins, and actually have a passenger side one that a metro bus tried to remove. When folded it has the solid flat profile look of our regular Chevy's and with a simple flip you get the verticle aspect you need when towing.

Thanks GW, everythime i see more pics of them it makes me want a set even more! What features do your mirrors have?
