SO, I have been thinking how else to use my HID adapters. Have you noticed that our trucks have 3 pair of marker lights/turn signals up front? Why? Anyway I decided to use one of the spots to install HID's and still have 2 pair of park/sig's. Its like the spot GM should of used for fog lights.
In this picture that is only the HID's in the parking light housing. (no head lights on)

In this one the head lights are on also.

I found a good angle without glare to take this picture so you can see the idea easier.

This is just the new fog lights on (no head lights) Notice how white the light is and this is using old crappy original 94 housings. I have the clear ones on the 96 & will get pictures of it with those housings tomorrow.

With my adapters this install is basicaly like a regular HID head light install except you need to run a switch to turn them on/off.

Thats awesome, Leroy.......For guys that are "city" drivers, having the HID hideaway option on a separate switch would come in handy in those times needed, when I find myself in a unlit (sp) area of some sort.

Would you know if the HID is brighter than our OEM highbeams?

This is great Leroy. Looks like you find a multi purpose upgrade.

HID is definitely brighter than OEM high beams. I have HID low beam and never need the highbeam. The highbeam is usually aim higher though.

Then I'd even stick them in the Highbeam location.....or maybe not. I'm not sure about placement yet, but definatly a great option.

The first place to put it on is the low beam, IMO. You don't need Leroy's kit though for either high or low beam, just buy the kit with the appropriate fitting (9005 or 9006).

The way I understand it is the kit will retrofit the HID into a non-standard/non headlight bulb fitting/housing like in this case parking light.

You got it.
Leroy, where do you find room to install all the ballasts?
There is plenty of room in there to mount to core support.

I like this option better than hanging some ugly fog light off the bumper.

How do you adjust them to get the beam where you really want it?

Obviously they are not ajustable. But judging by the picture above and my eyes it looks good. I will get some more pic's tonight.
Also, fog lights IMO are more of a system that gets pepole to see you faster/quicker when they might not have before.
Same reason LED tail lights are supposed to be safer. If the other driver see's you sooner they have more reaction time.

This is with the clear parking light lens pictured below. HID only (no head lights) The glowing orange object down the street is a stop sign.

HID's only. Very bright and alot of light broadcast out to the sides.

Leroy, I see that you have the blacked out side marker lenses. These came in a set of lights I bought for the son off e-Bay, but they don't fit. Where did you get yours?

I had the same problem once. Did you know Chevy and GMC side marker lights are different and won't interchange? so if you bought Chevy's they won't fit a GMC and visa-versa.
Got mine on Ebay. Like $8.

Well I learned something new. Thanks, now I can sleep easier. If this is true, then I guess I could use them on my '99?

Fog light is brighter than low beam.

Still have turn sigs and park lights. One on each side of the fog light.

Light is cast to the sides also. The car in the driveway is 50' away.

You might check lights that are allready set up with them. i was going to do the same thing on the Titan, but got to looking and found a brand new set for $50. (They are amazing) So I did'int even fool around with tring to do it myself.
I highly recomend Projectors with HID's.

can you see the turn signal with the HID fog light on? I kinda like the idea, but I always drive with my headlights on, and my 97 has HID low beams, so I think it would be redundant.

those aftermarket housings are probably ten times better than a factory housing, because of the plated reflectors with the refracting shapes cut into them.
Somewhere I have a picture of my headlights at an angle that looks just like the top photo in post #16. My HID low beam makes my Sylvania Silverstar Ultra high beam look pale yellow.
